Which Ford SUVs Offer Third Row Seating?
For the past few years, families have started trading in their minivans for the more stylish SUV. Full-sized SUVs offer the same amount of storage and passenger space as minivans, however, these vehicles also usually come with a powerful engine and rugged suspension that helps to make these vehicles sportier and more versatile.
When choosing a reliable and spacious SUV, many consumers turn to Ford because this company produces a variety of SUVs that come equipped with a wide range of advanced features. While Ford does have several SUVs to choose from, if you are looking for a Ford SUV that offers three rows of seating, your options are quite limited. Here is a look at the only full-sized SUVs that Ford currently has available according to Lucas Ford.
The Expedition offers the most room of any Ford SUV
The Expedition is a large SUV that comes with several comfort and convenience features. There are several trim levels to choose from, but all models come with three rows of spacious seating.
The second row comes standard with bucket seats, however, owners can opt for the available bench seats that allow up to eight passengers to comfortably fit inside. The available tip-and-slide-second-row-seats help to give the backseat passengers plenty of legroom. And the standard power reclining third-row seats ensure that everyone is able to stay comfortable on long road trips.
The standard Expedition offers plenty of interior cargo space. With the second and third-row seats folded down, the Expedition offers 104.6 cubic feet of cargo space. However, the Expedition MAX is around a foot longer and offers even more space.
The 2020 Expedition comes standard with a powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 375 hp and 470 lb.-ft of torque. When equipped with the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, the Expedition is able to tow up to 9,300 lbs.
The Ford Explorer is a great family SUV
The Explorer features a stunning exterior and spacious interior. Drivers can choose to make the interior even better with features like the available dual-pane moonroof and a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display that comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also a 12.3-inch fully customizable digital instrument cluster that comes standard on ST and Platinum trims.
The spacious interior also offers three rows of seating that are able to accommodate up to seven passengers and comes with the E-Z Entry system that allows passengers to easily access the third row with a quick pull of a lever that is positioned behind the second-row seats.
The third-row bench seat also comes with an available PowerFold system that allows you to fold the 50/50 split rear seats flat so that you can customize your cargo and passenger space.
The 2021 Explorer is not only spacious but also powerful as well. The Explorer offers three different engine options to choose from: The 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4, the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, and the 3.3-liter Hybrid engine.
All of the available engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and when properly equipped, the Explorer is able to deliver up to 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque.
The Ford Flex is gone but not forgotten
With its sharp lines and subtle curves, the Flex’s exterior has a bulky and boxy appearance. Even though the Flex looks big at first glance, it does not offer as much interior space as the other two SUVs on this list.
The Flex features three rows of seating and is able to seat up to seven passengers. However, previous owners have been known to complain about the third-row seats feeling a bit cramped and don’t offer enough legroom for tall adults. The rear cargo area offers 20 cubic feet of space. However, drivers can fold the rear seats down to create up to 83.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Ford Flex offers several high-tech features including a large touchscreen infotainment display that comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes standard with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that is both powerful and fuel-efficient and gets an estimated 23 MPG on the highway.
The Ford Flex is impressive and unique, however, if you are looking to purchase the Flex, you will have to find a used model as Ford stopped making this model.
