Which Is Bigger, the Acura MDX vs. Infiniti QX60?
For 2022 Acura Launched the new three-row MDX SUV. At the same time Infiniti launched the new 2022 Infiniti QX60. On paper, the two are very closely matched, with V6 power, three rows, all-wheel drive, and lots of leather and technology. But one way to judge an SUV is by that middle letter, the utility, and one of these SUVs is (slightly) larger and can hold more stuff.
Acura MDX vs. Infiniti QX60: It’s close on paper
The two are three-row, luxury SUVs that aim to be their respective brands’ best sellers. The Acura starts at $47,200. The Infiniti starts at $46,850. The MDX’s standard engine has 290 horsepower. The Infiniti makes 295 horsepower. They both offer three rows of leather-clad seating with multi-zone air conditioning, tons of cupholders and USB ports, and premium nameplates that will impress the neighbors.
They each have acres of digital screens, but Acura uses a trackpad that takes some getting used to while the QX60 uses a more traditional 12.3-inch touchscreen. Neither of these SUVs are designed to conquer the Rubicon trial, though they have all-wheel drive options. Instead, they are designed to take families on road trips in luxury.
Which is bigger, The MDX or QX60?
On the inside, it’s close in the redesigned MDX vs. Infiniti QX60 comparison. The Infiniti holds a respectable 75.4 cubic feet of stuff with the seats folded. That’s about 11 more than the smaller QX50. The MDX comes close, with 71.4 cubic feet of space with the seats folded. Both offer power, hands-free, liftgates optional to help getting that stuff in the back. The Infiniti makes it easy to fold the rear seats with a one-touch sliding seat option, while the MDX has a unique multi-function removable middle seat.
The rear way-back seats in the MDX have 29 inches of legroom vs. QX60’s 30.8. With the rear seats up in the MDX you can hold 16.3 cubic feet of stuff, while only 14.5 in the back of the QX60 under its sloping roof. Overall, the Acura is a long SUV at 198.4 inches, but the Infiniti is nearly the same at 198.2 inches. These three-row SUVs are about a foot shorter, however, than a 2022 Chevy Tahoe.
The trim levels set these two three-row SUVs apart
The 2022 Acura MDX comes in four trims, the base model, the $52,700 Technology trim, the A-Spec at $58,400 and the Advance, at $61,950. The MDX adds the special SH-AWD for $2,000. All MDX trims come standard with AcuraWatch, which is Acura’s suite of driver assistance aids. If its MDX vs. Infiniti QX60, consider the Acura trims more sporty and the Infiniti’s more luxury.
The new Infiniti QX60, starts at $46,850 for the Pure trim. Add $2,000 to get all-wheel drive. The Luxe, Sensory and Autograph trims round out the lineup. The Autograph AWD is the most expensive, topping out at $63,250. The Luxe and Sensory models bring on options like a 12-3-inch display and Infiniti’s ProPILOT ASSIST driver’s aid software that has traffic sign recognition and lane departure prevention.
The Acura can pack more power with the optional Type S version
If you took these to a drag strip, you’d want the Type S MDX vs. Infiniti QX60. While the QX60 has good power from its powerful V6, the MDX offers an upgraded Type S version with a turbocharged V6 that has 355 horsepower. The MDX Type S is more of a BMW M or Lexus RX Type F competitor with its dynamic air suspension. The Type S package comes with several options, and starts at $66,700 or $72,050 in Type S Advance trim.
