It’s an unfortunate reality for us here in the U.S., but there are many amazing vehicles that will never make it to the US. Why? Well, there are various reasons. Automakers may make the decision not to release that particular vehicle in the U.S. or the vehicle may be considered illegal. Other cars are tested extensively overseas before making the trip across the pond to the U.S. When you want a new Audi but can’t buy it here, that can be incredibly frustrating.

According to MotorTrend, Audi has a lot of great new models coming out. Audi, which has a history of building some incredible vehicles that are never released in the U.S., may be getting ready to do it again. The question now is, which models will the US get, and which ones will we have to watch others drive on YouTube? While it’s still mostly rumor and hearsay, the answers may surprise you. Let’s start with the bad news and take a look at the cars we won’t be driving in the U.S.

RS 4 Avant

If you’re a fan of the RS 4, it may be heartbreaking that Audi hasn’t brought the current one to the U.S. There doesn’t appear to be any plans set in stone to do so in the future. 

That being said, there may be hope yet! According to Top Speed, Audi has heard our cries and may be considering bringing the RS 4 to the States. Audi stated, “We always look at potential new opportunities in the market. It’s a niche to explore. We keep holding discussions. Keep writing us letters.” 

So does this mean that Audi is definitely going to bring the RS 4 to the US? Unfortunately no. It’s more of a promise that Audi will consider it more in the future than it’s definitely going to act.

A1

According to MotorTrend, the Audi A1 is one of the vehicles we won’t be driving cross-country through the States. Audi reports that the US market would be too small for both the A1 and the S8 and doesn’t appear to consider it as an option. Thankfully, there are other A models on the way, so we’ll just have to settle for the models we can get. 

So which models are coming to the U.S.?

A8

The new A8 is here! US News reports, “Beyond its over-the-top luxury features, it will be a technological tour de force. The new A8 will feature advanced autonomous driving functions and an all-new user interface with multiple touch screens.” 

Audi, which refers to the A8 as “One of modernity’s more prominent figures,” released the A8 in 2018.

A6 Allroad

This one is still not a guarantee, but all indications point to the fact that we’ll most likely get the A6 Allroad. So what’s the holdup? According to MotorTrend, the U.S. development team still need to convince the powers that be that this is a lucrative idea. They also need to nail down all the specifics such as price point and projected volume. Hopefully, we will be receiving confirmation in the future that this is definitely a go.

A6 Avant

While we’re still waiting for the RS 4 Avant, there’s good news. The A6 Avant is definitely on its way! Motor Trend states, “The Avant is the top of the A6 line, which was originally for Europe only; the third generation was expanded for Asia and China, and the fourth generation becomes even more global with plans to sell it in Canada and the U.S.” 

If you’re wondering why Audi is finally giving us what we want, it appears that a lot of people have been begging for the A6 Avant. The fanbase is so strong that Audi felt like it was a good business decision, and even have high hopes that it will exceed the projected sales prices. This just proves that if we want certain Audi models to hit the States, we simply have to be vocal about it.
