For those wanting to pack as much fuel as possible into their tanks, 2022 pickup truck models are here to deliver outstanding results, with the top three presenting a fuel range exceeding 700 miles. 

2022 Toyota Tundra: 32.2-gallon fuel tank

Pickup Truck + SUV Talk listed the 2022 Toyota Tundra as a truck with one of the largest fuel tanks. Toyota states that while the base model Tundra comes stock with a 22.5-gallon fuel tank, all Tundras optioned with the SR Convenience Package and the Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, and TRD Pro trim levels roll off the assembly line with a 32.2-gallon fuel tank.

While Toyota’s redesigned, third-generation, full-size offering improves on many of the pickup truck’s features from the previous model, one thing it does leave behind is the optional 38-gallon fuel tank.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer’s all-new 389-horsepower i-FORCE 3.5L twin-turbo V6 delivers far better fuel mileage than the 5.7-liter V8 it replaces. According to figures from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 2022 model is rated at 23 mpg for two-wheel drive and 21 mpg for four-wheel drive pickup models, seven miles per gallon better than the 2021 Tundra, now giving drivers an estimated 740 miles per tank.

2022 Ram 1500: 33-gallon fuel tank 

Ram Trucks explains that their base model 1500 will include a 26-gallon fuel tank, but buyers may spec a 33-gallon reservoir by visiting the options list. Yet, those seeking the shock-and-awe TRX model will enjoy the 33-gallon tank as standard.

Two-wheel drive 1500s have an EPA-estimated fuel mileage of 23 mpg, and four-wheel drive models can push 22.5 mpg when teamed with the 305-horsepower 3.5 liter Pentastar V6, which matches the prior generation’s Hemi V8 0-60 time of 6.6 seconds.

Even though drivers will have to shake their heads when passersby ask if the truck has a Hemi, 2022 Ram 1500 buyers can expect to travel an impressive 759 miles between fill-ups.

2022 Ford F-150: 36-gallon fuel tank

Most trim levels for Ford’s 14th generation F-150 will come from the factory with a 23-gallon fuel tank. If buyers opt for the Maximum Towing Package—available for all non-hybrid models, excluding the 122-inch wheelbase version—their new rig will boast an industry-leading 36-gallon fuel tank.

Ford announced its EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings at 22 mpg for two-wheel drive and 21.5 mpg for four-wheel drive configurations with its 3.5L EcoBoost V6. This will permit pickup truck drivers to stretch their legs on the highway as they will be able to cover a distance of 792 miles between fill-ups, or roughly Dallas, Texas, to Denver, Colorado.
