Family Truckster features applied to an Audi RS6 Avant

Who Knew Audi Made Movie Vacation Family Truckster Wagon?

You remember the Wagon Queen Family Truckster from the movie National Lampoon’s Vacation, right? It was one of the stars of the movie though it is only an inanimate object. You remember the Wagon Queen Family Truckster from the movie National Lampoon’s Vacation, right? It was one of the stars of the movie though it is only an inanimate object. A family vacation in the beloved station wagon. But it was amplified by the over-the-top modifications designers made to a run-of-the-mill Ford Country Squire. The wagon’s brutal front end and crazy wood pattern are unforgettable if you’re a car enthusiast.

This Audi RS6 Avant is an homage to the Vacation Truckster

There have been tributes and copies made over the years to the iconic movie car. We have one of those tributes here courtesy of Justin Quinn. He posted these shots of this Audi RS6 Avant which is an homage to the Truckster.

All of the Truckster cues are present. The “Metallic Pea” green paint and faux wood panels contrasting with the light wood trim surrounds. Wood is scattered around the Avant from the tailgate to the wood rails on the top. There are two wood panels on the hood and it even has the Wagon Queen crown placed on the front fender.

Clark Griswold could only hope for the Avant’s horsepower and performance

But the Clark Griswold could only hope for the horsepower and performance this Avant has. It sports the 4.0-liter V8 with 591 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque. Zero to 60 times in 3.5 seconds.

We’re not sure why anyone would want to emulate the Wagon Queen with an Audi Avant? Maybe it is a sly sense of humor. Or maybe it combines the owner’s two loves; Audis and Vacation? Whatever, it definitely gives the Avant a unique, memorable look.

Would we do this to our Audi Avant? Absolutely not! Do we enjoy seeing it done to one? Absolutely! Are we looking forward to seeing this done to a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo? Sure, we can take a joke. Are we expecting to see a Cross Turismo done this way? No, we seriously doubt there is more than one person who sees the humor and wants to spend the money to do a Cross Turismo Wagon Queen.
