Sometimes we get it when trucks like the Toyota Hilux are banned in America, but it doesn’t make sense for the Mazda CX-60. Older options can’t meet rising emission standards in the United States, but the 2023 Mazda CX-60 is brand new.

Will the 2023 Mazda CX-60 come to America?

The 2023 Mazda CX-60 isn’t coming to America, but it may arrive later. If the model performs well, we could see the new Mazda CX-60 PHEV arrive for the 2023 or 2024 model year. It would fit right in but it could also be under the name CX-70.

In America, we get the 2023 Mazda CX-50, which isn’t offered in Japan. But the CX-60 is larger than the CX-50, so it should have enough space for Americans. However, the CX-50 is designed to meet our needs better.

Mazda is pumping out new SUVs like hot cakes but keeping them in separate markets to cater to diverse needs. We understand that folks in Japan may want a sporty plug-in hybrid instead of a rugged off-roader, but we want both.

To enjoy sporty Mazda PHEV power, we have to wait. The Mazda CX-70 is the larger American SUV that will join the lineup soon. Then it will be followed by the even larger Mazda CX-90.

How much power does the CX-60 have?

The 2023 Mazda CX-60 is the most powerful Mazda SUV to date! It pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a 129-kW electric motor and 355-lithium ion battery to crank out 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

According to Motor 1, the CX-60 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in about 5.8 seconds. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 5,500 lbs.

With the 2023 Mazda CX-50, you can opt for the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for 256 hp and 372 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in about 6.6 seconds and can tow up to 3,500 lbs.

The CX-50 is great, but we feel like people would buy the larger and stronger CX-60. At least the CX-60 may provide clues about the upcoming Mazda CX-70. It could have even more power to satisfy Americans.

The 2022 CX-60 is too fun to ignore

The 2023 Mazda CX-60 is fun and capable. It’s built on the new large platform and comes with standard AWD. The double-wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, and Kinetic Posture Control stability software provide a sporty, confident, and controlled ride.

CX-60 driving modes include EV, Normal, Sport, Off-Road, Off-Road Traction, and Trailer. On a full charge, you get an electric range of about 39 miles. Also, the vehicle switches from electric to gasoline power once you pass 87 mph.

The tech is outstanding too. You can enter your height to have the Driver Personalization System recognize your settings. Then once you enter the vehicle, the mirrors, seating position, climate controls, and head-up display automatically adjust to your preferences.

A 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster come standard. You can opt for premium leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium sound system to craft the perfect environment.

We will get the Mazda CX-70 soon, and it will be a bit larger than the CX-60. However, We feel like the premium CX-60 would do well in America with its extra space, enhanced power, and innovative technology.
