It might already be too late if you were interested in buying a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV crossover when it became available. The all-electric version of the iconic vehicle turned out to be extremely popular among buyers. Despite remaining in pre-production status, the Blazer EV orders books opened only to be closed shortly after that. Why do so many people want this new electric SUV? Why is the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV sold out?

2024 Chevy Blazer EV reservations opened

According to HotCars, Chevrolet recently added a “reserve” button to its website for the new 2024 Chevy Blazer. Unfortunately, the automaker removed it rather quickly. For a $100 deposit, anyone could claim their Blazer EV before it even entered official production. Moreover, the automaker says the all-electric crossover will begin deliveries sometime in 2023. Pre-production or not, every Blazer EV that went up for preorder was claimed, and now the list is full. What has everyone so excited to get their hands on a new electric Blazer?

Blazer EV range and capabilities

First, the new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV sits on GM’s Ultium platform, including Ultium battery and drive motor technology. Furthermore, this platform allows for multiple configurations, fitting front, rear, and all-wheel drive systems. The intention behind the platform is to allow for more flexibility with the many products GM will produce. It’s the perfect platform type for GM, with multiple automakers under its umbrella, most of which are making brand-new electric vehicles for the first time. It also could be a contributing factor to the new crossover being sold out.

Next, General Motors says the Blazer EV can drive between 247 and 320 miles. The total number of miles per charge depends on the trim the buyer chooses. However, all trims include onboard AC charging capabilities of up to 11.5 kW and high-speed DC charging of up to 190 kW. HotCars compared the Blazer’s driving range to the respectable BMW iX, which offers 324 miles per charge.

Excellent trims and prices

Starting with the 2024 model year, the Blazer EV is offered in three trims-the 1LT, 2LT, and RS. All of which will become available during the summer of 2023. A more powerful model, the Blazer EV SS, enters the lineup at an unknown later date. With it, owners get an acceleration of 0-60 mph in slightly under four seconds. According to HC, it produces 557 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque using dual electric motors. Comparatively, the base trims use a single motor and cap out around 300 horsepower.

Every trim in the lineup has the Chevy Safety Assist package as standard equipment. It includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assistance, forward collision alerts, following distance assistance and indicator, and intelligent high beams.

Starting with the base model, the Blazer EV 1LT costs $44,995. It only comes with front-wheel drive, while other versions are available with all-wheel drive. Next, the 2LT trim is $47,595 and builds upon the equipment included with the base model. Finally, the (temporarily) range-topping RS trim sells for $51,995 and is available in front, rear, and AWD. Lastly, unavailable at launch, the SS trim will eventually cost $65,995. Although much more costly, the SS is the proper performance model that offers a lot of bang for your buck. Each trim uses a standard eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty.

Will the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV be available again?

According to HotCars, a spokesperson from Chevrolet said it filled its reservation targets in about four months, so the electric crossover is sold out. However, it is hopeful to be able to take more reservations closer to the final product’s launch. No information was made available about how many 2024 Chevy Blazer EVs customers preordered or how many more will be available closer to summer 2023.
