Why is Buick Teaming Up With Reese Witherspoon?
Buick announced last week that it has teamed up with Hello Sunshine, the media company founded by none other than Reese Witherspoon. Together Buick and Witherspoon are bringing Hello Sunshine’s latest book club picks to the 2020 Buick Encore GX.
Introducing Reese’s Book Club in-vehicle app
According to Buick, 55% of its buyers are women. And with 1.7 million followers on Instagram, the automaker says partnering with Hello Sunshine will help it connect with even more women.
Kate Hrabovsky, Buick advertising and media operations manager said of the partnership, “Hello Sunshine shines a light on women, creating and telling stories that put women at the center, and that’s something Buick wants to be a part of.”
“As more women are making vehicle-buying decisions, we want to be thinking creatively about how to offer more driving experiences tailored for them,” Hrabovsky added.
An in-vehicle app isn’t the only reason the automaker teamed up with Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine. This new partnership will also include vehicle placements within Hello Sunshine’s upcoming slate of television and film projects. Previous Hello Sunshine projects include Big Little Lies, The Morning Show, and Little Fires Everywhere.
Reese’s Book Club app is built into select Buick infotainment systems
When it came to developing the in-vehicle app, Daphne Zargar, Global Manager for In-Vehicle Apps and Partner Relations at Buick, wanted “younger girls to see there are women in technology positions.”
“I’ve been a fan and I’m familiar with how the work coming out of Hello Sunshine has really given women of all ages and background opportunities,” Zagar continued.
Zagar worked with Sarah Cleveland, the lead coder and developer, and Hayley Serr, Product Owner for In-Vehicle Apps and Partner Relations, to create the app. While Cleveland used her extensive development experience to create the app, Serr ensured it complemented Hello Sunshine’s branding and online presence.
The app, which is available in the 2020 Buick Encore GX, is integrated via an in-vehicle touchscreen display and provides drivers with access to audiobooks and podcasts that have been selected by Reese’s Book Club.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Buick on this exciting new venture,” said Hello Sunshine CEO Sarah Harden. “Reese’s Book Club is driven by a powerful community who appreciate authentic, quality storytelling, and we’re excited to further expand this community with Buick.”
The 2020 Buick Encore GX isn’t just for bookworms
Buick’s partnership with Hello Sunshine isn’t the only reason to consider the 2020 Buick Encore GX. As the latest addition to its lineup, the Encore GX is tailored to meet the automotive needs of today’s small and compact SUV buyers.
Powered by your choice of engine, the Encore GX is available with all-wheel drive. It can also be had with StabiliTrak, which intervenes if there’s a loss of traction due to icy, wet or uneven roads.
Its interior is something to behold too. Opt for features like leather-appointed seats, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic moonroof for a truly premium ride. And to enjoy the Hello Sunshine book club? Choose an Encore GX featuring a Buick infotainment system.
And if that isn’t enough to convince you that the Encore GX is an SUV worth buying? This all-new model comes with a long list of standard safety technologies, including forward collision alert and automatic emergency braking. It even offers driver convenience features like a rear camera mirror, head-up display and automatic parking assist with braking.
