Why are pickup trucks getting more and more expensive? The 2021 Ford F-150 starts around $30k, while the 2020 model starts around $28k. The Nissan Frontier and Chevy Colorado are increasing in price for 2021, and the 2021 Ford F-150 Limited trim starts around $72k. 

Is the 2021 Ford F-150 Limited trim worth it? 

Understandably, paying $70k for a pickup truck is a lot, so can the 2021 Ford F-150 Limited live up to its luxury promises? What makes it special enough to have such an extreme price tag? 

If you go for the Ford F-150 Limited that starts around $72k, you don’t even get 4×4 drive. It comes with a 4×2 SuperCrew Cab. If you want to add 4×4, then the price jumps around $75k. Generally, it costs about $1,500 to add 4×4 to a truck or SUV, so this is one expensive addition.

Also, if you want the hybrid powertrain, you’ll have to pay an additional $2,500. If you want a special bed liner, then you can pay $585, and for the tonneau cover, it will cost another $995. All of these extras put the price around $80k. 

What comes with the 2021 Ford F-150 Limited trim? 

Not much has been revealed about what exactly comes with the Ford F-150 Limited SuperCrew truck yet. But we expect it to include massive, padded leather seats with the ability to fold completely flat if you need a nap. 

The new 2021 Ford F-150 interior should include higher quality materials complete with soft-touch materials in the dash. Hopefully, this trim option will include the 12” infotainment center with the available workbench space and locking storage bins under the seats. 

The amount of power that the 2021 Ford F-150 hasn’t been officially released, but it’s going for the targeted best-in-class towing and hauling. The 3.5-liter hybrid V6 engine or the PowerBoost engine is being promoted as having plenty of power. Also, the 2021 F-150 has six engine options available. The 5.0-liter V8 engine is one of the options. 

We aren’t sure if the onboard generator will be included with the Limited trim, but with the PowerBoost hybrid transmission, the generator can provide 7.2kW of available output.

Also, the available multi-functional tailgate serves as a place for taking notes, making measurements, has a spot for your coffee, and a place for your phone. 

What does the 2020 Ford F-150 Limited come with? 

While what comes with the 2021 Ford F-150 Limited is still under wraps, maybe the 2020 model will hold clues as to what to expect. The 2020 F-150 Ford Limited has the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine to provide 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. You can add 4×4 and an electronically locking rear differential. 

It also has a slightly upgraded look with a satin finish grille, silver lining inserts, chrome mirrors, running boards, chrome door handles, and a twin-panel moonroof. You also get tow hooks if you opt for 4×4. 

Convenience features include a power locking tailgate, power rearview mirror, heated mirrors, a dual automatic climate zone, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel, a 10-way power driver seat, and more. Do these bells and whistles make a $70k truck worth it??
