Is there a 2024 Honda CR-V PHEV model?
Yes, there is an available 2024 Honda CR-V PHEV or plug-in hybrid model available, just not in America. The CR-V PHEV debuted in Germany and will be available across Europe by the end of the year.
This has the potential to get our hopes up in America. We’ve been waiting for a Honda PHEV to strike against Toyota options such as the Toyota RAV4 Prime. But Honda has been noticeably behind the curve. To make things even murkier, we might see the Hydrogen-powered CR-V in America before the PHEV.
Torque News would like to be optimistic about the CR-V PHEV coming to America, but it feels like Honda has a limited supply of batteries compared to rivals. Plus, Honda is partnering with GM to bring its first electric vehicles to the market next year.
Honda might not have the capacity to manufacture necessary parts in the United States and may not initially qualify for American tax incentives. That would make the CR-V PHEV more expensive than its competitors. But we can still dream!
How much range does the CR-V PHEV have?
The 2024 Honda CR-V PHEV has an estimated range of about 51 miles on a single charge. The figures are a bit difficult to find, but it could only use about a half gallon of gas per 62 miles. The battery can be fully recharged in about two and a half hours.
Both the Hybrid and PHEV models in Europe use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that’s been revised to improve its performance and efficiency. It’s paired with two lightweight, high-output onboard electric motors and a battery pack.
Honda didn’t release how much power each option has, but it makes sense for the PHEV to have a larger lithium-ion battery than the hybrid variant. Also, it’s safe to expect a few different driving modes, such as Eco, and different levels of regenerative braking.
During the debut, an AWD badge was on the bumper of the new PHEV model. This could indicate that it will have standard all-wheel drive.
In America, the Honda CR-V Hybrid uses a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that’s paired with two electric motors to generate 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. It gets an EPA-estimated 43 mph in the city and up to 36 mpg on the highway.
Is the CR-V PHEV different from the American model?
The 2024 Honda CR-V PHEV and the American models look nearly identical. One of the only differences that you’ll notice is a charging port toward the front of the SUV instead of a fuel door near the rear.
Plus, it has a slightly different bumper and grille shape with unique model badging. The interior looks nearly identical with high-quality materials such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and soft-touch covered surfaces.
Both models have a 9.0-inch touchscreen, 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, 12-speaker premium Bose audio system, and the Honda Sensing 360 suite.
