Here’s Why No One You Know Owns a 2022 Rivian R1T Yet
The Rivian R1T is the first mass-produced electric truck to hit the streets, but you can’t have one yet. Rivian employees have dibs on the first 2022 Rivian R1T electric trucks
There are certain special privileges that come with working for a major automaker. Occasionally, one of those privileges includes getting access to vehicles before the general public. Such is the case with the 2022 Rivian R1T.
The Rivian R1T has been making headlines as the first electric pickup truck to hit the streets, yet there are few non-Rivian employees who have had the chance to get behind the wheel of one yet. What good is being the first on the market if none of the general public gets to own the electric truck yet?
According to InsideEVs, of the 156 Rivian R1T models delivered, nearly all the electric pickup trucks went to Rivian employees. If you don’t know anyone that works for Rivian, you probably won’t get a glimpse of the R1T in person anytime soon.
The 2022 Rivian R1T is worth the wait
The 2022 Rivian R1T probably won’t be delivered to the average consumer before 2022 but it is well worth the wait for those considering the electric pickup. The Rivian R1T isn’t for everyone, but the select few who can afford it will enjoy the innovative truck. The Amazon-backed company has filed for an $80 billion IPO and the R1T is a huge reason the company has such a high valuation.
The Rivian R1T is worth the wait because it has amazing range, is insanely powerful, and makes for the perfect glamping truck. The R1T Launch Edition gets 300 miles of range on a full charge. It makes a mind-blowing 800 horsepower and comes with standard all-wheel drive. The R1T can go from 0-60 miles per hour in just three seconds.
Should you buy a 2022 Rivian R1T over other electric trucks?
The 2022 Rivian R1T is deisgned for the camping and outdoor enthusiasts with enough money to buy a $68,000 truck. Since the Launch Edition is the first R1T available, buyers are actually shelling out over $74,000 for the electric truck.
The only reason to buy the R1T over the upcoming Ford F-150 Lightning or the Tesla Cybertruck is performance and off-road convenience. If you don’t plan on taking your electric truck off-road often the F-150 Lightning and Cybertruck are more affordable options that still provide amazing capability.
