The Acura NSX is one of the brand’s most expensive and luxurious sports cars. Even its used models attract the attention of anyone on the street. The 2017 Acura NSX is arguably one of the best used Acuras on the market today, but there are still a few big things to consider before making a huge investment.

The 2017 Acura NSX: the price of a used luxury super car

The Acura NSX sports car is one of the luxury brand’s most expensive vehicles, with new 2020 NSX pricing starting at almost $160,000. This is a higher price tag than many sports cars in the segment, but also lower than more exotic sports cars like the Audi R8. While the price of the NSX is the hardest part to swallow, used models of the Acura NSX may offer the same speed, at a portion of the price.

The 2017 Acura NSX is only a few years old and still new enough to offer all the modern perks, without the same hefty price tag. In fact, according to U.S. News, the average price paid for a used 2017 Acura NSX sports car stands at around $95,000; a significant difference from the newest NSX, which is only a few years newer.

Even so, in order to spend $95,000, the 2017 Acura NSX better be a great used sports car. Is it worth it?

What makes the 2017 Acura NSX a good used car

The experts at U.S. News rate the 2017 Acura NSX as one of its top choices for “Best Used Acuras,” receiving one of the best overall scores of all used Acuras on the list. Earning an impressive score of 8.0/10, U.S. News experts say that the 2017 NSX “competes with performance machines like the Porsche 911, Nissan GT-R, and Audi R8” and “turns heads wherever it goes.”

The 2017 Acura NSX uses a hybrid powertrain, which already helps separate it from the rest of the herd. The mid-engine setup uses the combination of three electric motors and a powerful V6 to make a remarkable 573 hp.

The hybrid engine is mated to a quick-shifting, nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission/ Quick and agile, the NSX can sprint to 60 miles per hour in just three seconds. This strong acceleration paired with great, sharp handling makes the NSX a dream to drive.

Its fuel-rating is also above average for the segment, at an estimated 21 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway. With the Acura NSX, speed isn’t sacrificed for efficiency.

Not a perfect car, but is it worth it?

Out of all scoring categories on U.S. News’ review of the 2017 Acura NSX, it receives the lowest score for its interior. For a car that costs so much money, interior quality falls behind when compared to its biggest rivals.

Simpler than it is impressive, the NSX’s “cabin materials are underwhelming for the class.” In addition, many say that 2017 NSX has a difficult-to-use infotainment system.

According to experts at the RoadShow by CNET, other possible drawbacks of the 2017 Acura NSX include its lack of cargo space, roomy seating, and safety tech features. Even though these items could be less important to sports car shoppers, the NSX lacks just enough to make experts consider the price.

For even the used price of nearly $100,000 owners should expect near-perfection. But for those ready to spend the money, the 2017 Acura NSX offers the best of what sports car fanatics love most: speed, agility, and fun.
