Have you ever been turning and noticed a faster-ticking sound than normal? That’s because your car’s turn signal blinks faster at times. But what does it mean? It’s time to figure out why your turn signal blinks faster sometimes. 

Why does my turn signal blink faster sometimes? 

Your turn signal blinks faster at times for various reasons. It might be because the turn signal bulb is faulty. 

Once you hit your turn signal, electricity runs through the fuse box to the turn signal circuit and activates. Then power is sent to the secondary load circuit that’s connected to the bulb. 

If the bulb is faulty, then your turn signal may blink faster or erratically. You can test each blinker to see which one is blinking or illuminating in a different manner. 

Also, this probably means that it’s time to replace your bulb. See if it is dark, cloudy, or has broken filament. 

Poor or damaged electrical connections could also make a turn signal blink faster at times. An improper electrical connection can occur anywhere in the circuit. As a result, the turn signal may not get enough power, causing it to dim or blink inconsistently. 

A faulty electrical switch will also lead to random blinker rates. Faulty switches are often caused by corrosion, burns, and worn insulation. Worn-out relays and flashers may also lead to a weak connection. 

To correct this issue yourself, check all of the wiring and connections around the turn signal area and clean its components. Then make sure your fuses are working. Also, replace the bulb. 

Changing the bulb may include opening the hood and removing the headlight housing. You will also use a tab to disconnect the electrical connector. 

Remove the old bulb and carefully install the new one. Avoid touching the glass because the oils from your fingers could cause premature failure. 

Then reconnect the electrical connection and put the housing back in its correct spot. Last but not least, test the new blinker bulb to ensure it works.
