And when it comes to the 2021 Toyota RAV4? While a fully-loaded model will cost you less than the range topping CX-5 Signature, you can expect to spend a minimum of $26,150 on a base model. And if you’d rather a hybrid model instead? This year’s new RAV4 Hybrid will have you spending a minimum of $28,650.

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 is a reliable alternative to the 2021 Toyota RAV4

Toyota might be known for reliability but, as it turns out, the 2021 Mazda CX-5 earned better predicted reliability ratings than this year’s RAV4. According to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Toyota RAV4 earned a three out of five predicted reliability rating. While that isn’t the lowest rating possible, it is pretty disappointing. But, unfortunately, disappointing reliability ratings have become kind of the norm for the RAV4. At least according to Consumer Reports’ data.

The Mazda CX-5, on the other hand, fared pretty well. Unlike the RAV4, this year’s model earned a perfect predicted reliability rating. But, as it turns out, the CX-5 has almost always earned a five out of five overall reliability rating. The last model to earn a less than perfect rating? The 2016 Mazda CX-5, which earned a four out of five predicted reliability rating from Consumer Reports.

The interior of the Mazda CX-5 aims to spoil

According to U.S. News & World Report, while the interior of the RAV4 boasts more of a rugged look, the Mazda CX-5’s interior “borders on being something from a luxury brand.” Even if you opt for a base model CX-5, U.S. News reports that you can expect it to “have high-end materials that adorn the interior.” From its Nappa leather upholstery to its real wood trim pieces, the interior of this year’s new CX-5 truly aims to spoil.
