‘He will go years without buying himself new clothes and be fine with it,’ Wife surprises husband with his dream Chevy [Watch]
Julie Davidson wanted to show her husband some extra love for his 40th birthday. The father of two girls, Julie explained to her TikTok followers that her partner tends to put his family first. “He has always put my needs and our daughters’ needs before anything else! He will go years without buying himself new clothes and be fine with it, as long as his girls are good,” she explained. So, as an early birthday gift, she surprised him with his dream car: a classic Chevrolet Impala SS.
“He has talked about this car as long as I can remember and has wanted it since he was a teenager.”

Now, a lot of us might not see the shine on this gem at first glance. Here’s the rundown:
The 1994-1996 Chevrolet Impala SS is a classic American sleeper
The Impala SS is something of a legend in certain (hyper)niche American muscle car circles. The 7th-generation Impala was Chevy’s bang-up retirement party (albeit a temporary sunset) for the Impala name. The SS boasts a 5.7L V8 LT1 Corvette engine.
As such, it basically transformed the Caprice, Chevy’s popular four-door sedan that dominated the American market from 1966 to the mid-nineties, into a powerful muscle car with arguably ho-hum sleeper vibes. While the OEM made about 70,000 of them, they’re 28 years old now and resting peacefully in the “Classic American Sleeper” collector zone.
Chevy resurrected the Impala in 2004 and ran its 8th gen until 2010.
The 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS is indeed rare, and it’s not cheap to get. The trailing 12-month average sale price on Classic.com is over $24K. There’s one listed now in North Carolina for $55,995.
The look of shock and happy tears say it all. Happy birthday, buddy!
