Making tiny vehicles like the Jeepster isn’t exactly new for Jeep. However, the Jeepster EV could change the game as the first electric Jeep SUV. While we’re excited to learn more about the 2024 Jeepster EV, we’re worried that it might kill the Jeep Renegade. 

Is the 2024 Jeepster EV replacing the Jeep Renegade?

Maybe. There are tons of rumors about the 2024 Jeepster EV circulating around the web, and the future of the Jeep Renegade feels a bit uncertain. The new Jeepster EV is expected to be smaller than the Renegade, which is mind-boggling. 

While the Renegade features plenty of cargo space in the rear, the passenger room is pretty limited. But the Jeepster EV is also destined for international markets, where smaller vehicles do a bit better. 

According to AutoBlog, the Jeep Junior or Jeepster will be built in Tychy, Poland, and India. It will slot below the Renegade, so it could survive in a few other countries and in America. However, the Renegade was discontinued in Australia. 

What do we know about the Jeepster? 

The 2024 Jeepster EV could borrow a lot from the Fiat 500 like the Jeep Renegade did. Stellantis seems to be obsessed with turning the egg-shaped Fiat into a successful Jeep model. But the Renegade has a better performance in America with its traditional boxy shape. 

The Jeepster rides on the CMP platform along with plenty of other options from the Peugeot-Citron family. The all-electric version is the eCMP. It could have an internal combustion 1.2-liter engine. 

Next, an electric version is expected to follow and may arrive by the end of 2022. Later, a hybrid variant could be in the works. 

Reportedly, the Jeepster EV is powered by a 50-kWh battery and a 134-hp motor to crank out about 13 miles of range. This is the same setup that the Peugoat e-2008 uses. The Peugeot e208 provides 225 miles of range. 

While the CMP platform can’t support AWD, it could be updated. The similar Alfa Romeo model will have AWD and could share its system with Jeep. 

It sounds like the first all-electric Jeep is a small affordable option for daily driving, but the Jeep Renegade has serious off-roading chops to consider.

What’s new for the Jeep Renegade? 

In Brazil, the 2023 Jeep Renegade has a slightly revised face. The LED lights and front bumper have been updated for a more confident look. But it’s unclear if the revised Renegade will come to America. 

However, in the United States, the Jeep Renegade is expected to primarily be a carryover model. So, we don’t get the Jeepster EV or the more attractive Renegade. Perhaps we will see more updates if the Jeep Renegade 4xe ever comes to the United States. 

The hybrid Renegade with more power and an improved fuel economy would certainly receive a warm welcome. Also, it’s possible that the 2023 Renegade could receive updated tech and a refreshed interior. 

We wouldn’t mind a larger panoramic sunroof, vents in the rear, a head-up display, wireless phone charging pad, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and updated safety features.
