The 2021 Hyundai Tucson will be here soon, toward the middle of 2020. So far, it’s mainly been kept under wraps and hidden away. However, from spy shots and rumors, we’ve been able to gain an idea of what to expect.
The 2020 Hyundai Tucson starts around $23k, so we can expect the price to stay similar or go up to about $25k due to the significant improvements being made.
2021 Hyundai Tucson Power
The 2020 Hyundai Tucson is a bit weak. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine only provides 161 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It’s sluggish and underwhelming compared to rivals in the $23k to $25k price range.
You can upgrade to the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine for 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. But this amount of power can only tow 1,000 lb while rivals can tow between 1,500 to 5,000 lb.
The 2021 Hyundai Tucson will have to have a power upgrade to remain relevant. We can expect an upgrade because spy shots show that the Hyundai Tucson will be more significant. It will need more power to handle more weight.
We also know that the Hyundai Tucson is on the same frame as the Hyundai Santa Fe and seems to have borrowed features from the larger Hyundai Palisade. Also, larger hybrids like the RAV4 Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid, and Toyota Venza Hybrid are becoming increasingly popular.
So if the new 2021 Hyundai Tucson is a larger hybrid, it will have the power and fuel economy to compete with these options in similar price ranges.
2021 Hyundai Tucson Looks
The 2021 Hyundai Tucson will have an all-new, more confident look. We already know that the cabin will be taller and have a longer wheelbase. The extra space will allow the Tucson to have a more comfortable ride and resolve complaints about the 2020 model being too cramped.
A longer, sloped roof life, sidelines, and squared wheel arches will create a more aggressive and sportier look. The grille will also be wider and paired with triangular headlights. We also enjoy the new tiger claw tail lights in the rear.
The 2020 Hyundai Tucson is an IIHS top safety pick, so of course, Hyundai will want to maintain that title by incorporating more safety features. Maybe we will see enhanced distracted driver warnings and some all-wheel-drive modes for snow, mud, sand, and more.
The current Hyundai Tucson is equipped with standard techs such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so we can expect an upgrade. Maybe there will be a heads up display to project vital information behind the steering wheel or the ability to connect to smart homes and smartwatches.
