Will the 2021 Jeep Compass Be Any Better Than Previous Model Years?
In the past few years, the Jeep Compass hasn’t exactly been the brand’s most popular SUV. Living perpetually under the shadow of the popular off-road-oriented vehicle, the Jeep Wrangler, and the more practical option, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, there wasn’t much love left for the Compass. While there are a lot of positives for the compact SUV, such as its more reasonable sticker price, it hasn’t always been spoken of highly, and that might not be any different from the 2021 model year.
The latest Jeep Compass
There isn’t a lot of changes for the 2021 Jeep Compass as it is still within the same generation we have been seeing for the past few years. This means that we can expect all of the same complaints, especially ones that test-drivers and owners voiced about the recent 2020 model year.
Previous model years
The 2021 Jeep Compass has only been out for a few months, but according to Consumer Reports, we shouldn’t maintain high expectations. In fact, the website gives the vehicle pretty abysmal reviews, even though there haven’t been many owner complaints about the latest model year. Instead, these negative points are based off of the past few years of the model, which have highlighted downfalls such as uncomfortable seats and harsh, noisy ride.
The compact SUV still has a lot to offer
As with any vehicle, buying a new SUV like the 2021 Jeep Compass is a balancing act of compromising what you need versus what you can do without, all within your price range. Jeep owners are proud of the brand, regardless of what year or even what model they drive, and that’s no different for the Compass. Sure, it’s not the fanciest, most exciting model in the lineup, and it may require some compromises, but with a starting price of $23,915, it’s one of the most affordable SUV options you’ll actually be proud of owning.
It may not have the aggressive styling of the Wrangler that makes it one of the favorites from the manufacturer, but perhaps the modest nature of the Compass is what makes it a more versatile, practical vehicle. Designed to be more family-oriented, the Compass offers highlights such as easy to use controls, a simple infotainment system, and decent enough fuel economy (for an SUV, at least). Perhaps with these things in mind, it will be a great contender should Jeep decide to make it into a hybrid or fully-electric model later down the road.
