Will the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Have a Two Door Model?
What do we want? A 2021 Jeep Gladiator with two-doors! When do we want it? We want it now, but if we have to wait until 2021 one for a two-door Jeep truck, that’s fine. One of the biggest disappointments with new Jeeps has been not having a two-door truck model, so will we get one soon?
Will There Be Two Door Jeep Gladiator?
Think about what classic trucks you miss. If you think about the compact Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, or Jeep Comanche, then you probably also want a two-door Jeep Gladiator option. Everyone loved compact trucks before options trended toward getting larger.
Now the Ford Maverick, Ram 700, and Subaru Baja are rumored to be making a return. Will Jeep jump on the compact trend to compete? So far, there isn’t much information about the 2021 Jeep Gladiator. However, we can expect it only to have minor updates unless a two-door variant arrives.
The Jeep J6 Concept Truck
The Jeep J6 concept came to play at the 2016 Easter Jeep Safari and instantly started turning heads. It was a shortened version of the Jeep Gladiator with a regular cab and vibrant blue metallic paint.
Like the Jeep Gladiator, the J6 requires a bit of a jump to climb up in. Also, the J6 sits on a Jeep Wrangler JL frame, making it easier to drive. The Jeep Gladiator is often criticized for being too large to go off-roading. The J6 Jeep has a shorter wheelbase of 118.4 inches compared to 137.4″ with the Gladiator.

The J6 Jeep has a six-foot truck bed and felt more proportional than the Jeep Gladiator with its 5-foot bed. A smaller Jeep truck wouldn’t have the robust suspension that the Ram 1500 has, so it would most likely tow less. However, if it could tow up to 3,500 lb, like the Jeep Wrangler, then it would have enough power to please a majority of fans.
The J6 Jeep concept has less visibility than the Gladiator, but it doesn’t have an awkward size or front overhang either. To help the J6 Jeep feel Jeep-like, it can go topless. The hardtop is easy to remove with the twist of a few screws, and the windshield can fold down as well.
What We Know About the 2021 Jeep Gladiator
The 2021 Jeep Gladiator will most likely be a carryover model with the same Jeep inspired look and Jeep Wrangler-like interior. The base model will continue to be basic like a Jeep Wrangler with durable cloth seats and a 5″ infotainment center. However, you can upgrade to leather seats and the 8″ infotainment center.
All Jeep models are expected to have a hybrid variant by 2022, so we may see a hybrid powertrain. Otherwise, the Jeep Gladiator is expected to offer the same base engine option. We might see the Jeep Wrangler’s 3.8-liter V6 engine with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, though.
Also, the Jeep Gladiator could receive more safety features such as parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision prevention, automatic emergency braking, and more. However, we will, unfortunately, have to wait to learn more.
