Will the GMC Hummer Truck Be Like the Jeep Gladiator?
We have seen teaser images of the GMC Hummer truck that will arrive soon, and our first thought was how its boxy shape looks similar to the Jeep Gladiator. This got our motors running due to wondering if the new Hummer will be similar to the Gladiator.
The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is coming
When you look at the silhouette of the upcoming 2022 GMC Hummer pickup, you can see that is has a boxy design that is almost reminiscent of the square Jeep Gladiator. However, the Jeep Gladiator has a flat rear window, that is vertical, while the GMC Hummer truck has a sloping rear window.
Both trucks appear to have a sloping windshield, but the Hummer looks like it has a more noticeable angle. This could be to improve aerodynamics with the boxy design while keeping the classic Hummer look.

Some images of the Hummer EV truck show the traditional slotted grille like the Jeep. But the Hummer grille is longer and more narrow than the Jeep grille. It also has square headlights and some variations say Hummer across the center.
The silhouette of the GMC Hummer SUV has a large, full-size spare tire mounted on the back too. That provides a four-door Jeep Wrangler, and Ford Bronco feel. The Hummer EV will also have removable roof panels, like the Jeep and four-door Bronco.
In the teaser video, a little clay Hummer is shown with shackles and serious bumpers, promoting its off-roading abilities. This could steal attention from Jeep and Ford SUVs if it’s as capable as it looks.
How will the GMC Hummer EV be different?
While the Ford F-150 has a hybrid model out for 2021 and an electric version slotted for 2022, the Jeep Gladiator hasn’t mentioned any plans of going electric, yet. However, Jeep has claimed that each of their models will be offered with a hybrid powertrain by 2022.
The Hummer EV will also be faster with more torque. GMC suggests that the 2022 Electric Hummer will provide 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. The Jeep Gladiator currently can’t hold a candle to that, but with the upcoming EcoDiesel powertrain, it will provide 442 lb-ft of torque.
Numbers for the electric Ford F-150 haven’t been released yet, but the prototype has been spotted towing train cars. The truck hauled over one million pounds for 1,000 feet to display the promise of torque and power.
Also, the GMC Hummer EV will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only three seconds. That’s insane to think about for such a larger SUV or truck. That’s pretty much how quickly sports cars can accelerate. The Jeep Gladiator takes 7.9 seconds to reach 60 mph.
Unlike the Jeep Gladiator with its loud choice of engines, the Hummer EV pickup truck will be quiet. You can have a peaceful, immersive experience in your 2022 Hummer without a roaring engine.
When will we know more about the 2022 GMC Hummer?
The 2022 GMC Hummer is expected to make its debut by the end of the summer or early in 2021, so it can hit dealerships by the fall of 2021. So hopefully, we will learn more soon about its pricing, trim options, and capabilities.
