Will the New Ford Bronco Steal Sales From the G-Wagon?
The all-new 2021 Ford Bronco release is looming closer and closer. As of this writing, we don’t have much longer to wait until its national television debut. Everyone is excited about another sturdy and capable off-roader. Once Ford’s new off-pavement addition to the SUV segment will compete with lifestyle vehicles like the Toyota 4Runner the Jeep Wrangler and even luxury off-roaders like Land Rovers and the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. Will new Ford Bronco sales even steal buyers away from the G-Wagon? Maybe.
New Ford Bronco sales, at this point, are really anyone’s guess. But Ford has dumped funds into its production and release. They must at least project some decent numbers or else it will all be in vain.
The G-Wagon vs the Bronco
We don’t quite know enough about the Ford Bronco and its features and specs to do a full-on comparison between these two designated off-roaders. We do know that the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon doesn’t go topless like the 2-door and 4-door Bronco silhouettes we’ve been teased with. It’s also almost certain to be way more expensive. It will probably have a huge edge on the 2021 Bronco in the luxury department.
However, both of these vehicles are marketed as lifestyle vehicles chock full of off-roading fun. Adventure awaits whether you are in a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon or an all-new Ford Bronco. It’s not as if the G-Wagon sees high volume production or large sales numbers each year. But enough are sold to keep the vehicle in production. In fact, a new once was recently spied on German roads. But will it be able to compete with the novelty of the new Ford Bronco?
Lifestyle vehicle
MotorTrend already made the connection between the exterior styling of the Bronco and the G-Wagon. The MotorTrend verdict is that the new SUV looks like the “Jeep Wrangler and a G-Wagon had a baby.” We are about to see it in all its wild beauty come the debut. We may see even more styling similarities between the new Bronco and the Mercedes G-Wagon.
The Detroit Free Press finds in interviews that the Ford Bronco is poised to attack the market that the Jee Wrangler reigns. But new Ford Bronco sales could affect the G-Wagon’s sales figures as well. Why pay all that money for the free-spirited lifestyle of a G-Wagon when you get the same lifestyle as a Ford Bronco owner? You don’t. Even those that like to flaunt their financial ability to buy an expensive truck like the Mercedes- Benz G-Wagon will still undoubtedly get massive amounts of attention as Bronco drivers. The new Ford Bronco sales might steal some significant revenue from the G-Wagon.
It’s new and exciting
Though the new Ford Bronco is a revival, it is all-new. It holds true to its rugged roots but it is still bound to want to deviate from the traditional pavement. Many G-Wagon owners never see their truck in action off-pavement.

It’s an SUV that gleans attention and for many drivers that is enough. We have a feeling the new 2021 Ford Bronco is going to be quite the attention-getter itself. And, while we don’t know the pricing yet, it’s probably safe to say you could buy his and hers Ford Broncos for the price of one Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
