Woman Finds New Bronco Sasquatch Badlands Sitting at Dealer: Buys It for MSRP
There are Bronco buyers who have to wait a year or longer before getting their prize SUV. And dealers that end up with one on their lots are marking them up by thousands of dollars. So what do you make of a woman who wandered into a Ford dealership, found a new Bronco for sale, and soon drove away in her new treasure? Oh, and she paid MSRP to boot.
That’s the way Wendy Sue H tells it on the Bronco 6th Gen Facebook page. CarScoops got a chance to talk with her to get the story. All we can say is that she really wanted a Bronco, and got really lucky.
Some Ford Bronco owners have all of the luck
Wanting a Bronco but knowing the wait times and dealer gouging, Wendy bought a 2021 Ford Ranger instead last May. A Cactus Gray Ranger. But then she saw a listing from Seekins Ford in Fairbanks, Alaska, for a Cactus Gray Bronco Badlands with the Sasquatch goodies.
She called the dealership to tell them she was on her way, and within hours she was driving her new Bronco. And maybe the best part is no markup. So why did Seekins Ford have a brand new Bronco sitting on its lot?
It seems that a customer ordered the SUV in 2021 just like thousands of other Bronco enthusiasts. Arriving a week ago, once the dealer went to finalize the sale, the customer’s financing was rejected. With that, the dealer posted its availability, and that’s how Wendy found it.
If Ford can’t finance it, you don’t get it
CarScoops adds that besides Seekins Ford being cool about the price, this isn’t the only Bronco sitting in their dealership. It also has a new two-door Bronco. This one is painted Antimatter Blue Metallic, running a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-banger. The MSRP is $50,965, and that is what Seekins will sell it for. No markup!
But you’ll have to go to Fairbanks, Alaska, to get it. It figures that in a town with about 30,000 residents, the local Ford dealer isn’t looking to gouge. Word of mouth goes like lightning in a place like Fairbanks. So the dealer sounds more than fair.
In the Southern California area, prices for slightly used Broncos at Ford dealers range from around $60,000 to well over $80,000. Since it is very hard to get a new Bronco without a reservation, the few used models around have fairly high prices. That’s another reason why MSRP for a new Bronco is so amazing.
The other good news is that Wendy really wanted a new Bronco bad, and had luck on her side when she found this one. So the SUV went to an eager owner, and now she has a matching pair of Fords; her Ranger and Bronco. 2022 is starting out great for her.
