Sorry, the current trucks in America may never live as long as the Toyota Hilux. The Toyota Hilux is the world’s most reliable pickup truck and it left the United States in the 90s. While the Toyota Tacoma is great, it doesn’t measure with the same level of indestructibility.

The Toyota Hilux is the world’s most reliable pickup truck

The world’s most reliable pickup truck is the Toyota Hilux. Unfortunately, the Hilux left the United States in 1995, but this is when we gained the ionic Toyota Tacoma.

The Hilux is known for reaching over 500,000 miles, 700,000 miles, and even 1,000,000 miles. Even the abused models regularly surpass 300,000 miles.

The truck left the United States market because it was getting more expensive to import vehicles. The Toyota Tacoma was built in Texas for many years until it recently moved to Mexico toward the end of 2023.

Also, rising emission standards took a toll on the most reliable pickup truck. Toyota found that it would be easier to launch a new truck for Americans to enjoy instead of remodeling the Hilux to adhere to higher standards.

So, the rest of the world continues to enjoy the Hilux and still does, proving how indestructible the full-size truck really is.

To prove how the Hilux is bulletproof, many critics and entertainers have recorded their attempts to break it.

One model survived hitting trees, rubbing against stone walls, being left parked in the ocean (it was accidentally swept away), being hit with a wrecking ball, being driven through a building, dropping a camper on it, and being burned with a flamethrower.

The truck’s steel frame and simple engine designs contribute to its reliability. The Hilux models are known for being sturdy, durable, and easy to work on

Current Toyota Hilux models continue with a similar recipe for success and still have turbo diesel engines for Americans to be jealous of.

While we don’t get the Hilux, the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra serve as pretty good substitutes. Either could arguably qualify as the most reliable pickup truck in the United States today.
