Don’t believe us? Well, you’re probably not going to believe this either, but the Audi TT is ranked at the top of the list of the “Longest-Lasting Sports Cars.” So if you want a sports car that’s fun to drive for many years, you might want to start checking out the Audi TT.

The Audi TT is the “longest-lasting sports car”

When we think of German cars, it’s almost too easy to think of the words “unreliable” and “expensive.” However, you might want to turn your thinking away from the likes of BMW and Mercedes and instead focus on Audi. After all, the brand is known for its racing heritage and penchant for sportiness, which it injects into every one of its models, including the TT.

Above all else, Audi is also known for building quality products and that’s evident considering the TT topped the list of the “Longest-Lasting Sports Cars” according to iSeeCars. The TT bested other popular sports cars including the Dodge Charger, Ford Mustang, BMW M5, and surprisingly, even the Mazda MX-5. iSeeCars noted that the list was based on the likelihood (measured in percentages) that each car would last at least 150,000 miles or more, to which the Audi TT received a 4.1% over the Charger’s 3.0%.

“The Audi TT is praised for its performance and fuel economy, which may encourage drivers to keep it on the road for longer,” noted Phong Ly, CEO for iSeeCars.

How reliable is the Audi TT?

The Audi TT was first introduced in 1998 and is still going strong. Now in its third generation, the TT provides a 2+2 seating configuration, strong athletic prowess, and a potent turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 228 hp and is able to get the car up to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, thanks in part to the car’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. But just how reliable is the TT?

According to U.S. News, the 2021 Audi TT has a reliability rating of 3.5 out of 5 from J.D. Power, which is considered “above average” in their terms. Also, there are currently zero reported complaints on Car Complaints for the current generation of the TT, which is from the 2016 model year and on. That’s pretty good, considering you may have once thought that an Audi would probably spend more time in the shop than it does on the road.

Is it worth it to buy an older Audi TT?

Considering that the current Audi TT will set you back around $50,000, you might be gravitating toward purchasing an older model instead. In that case, we would recommend going with a 2017 model or newer, since you can find TTs in that vintage in the $20,000 range. Also, they don’t have any major reported issues to speak of, so it should last you for many years, especially if it’s your second or third car.
