Pricing structure

The 2021 Accent is the cheapest Hyundai you can buy. There aren’t a lot of high-end features, but that’s to be expected considering its low starting price of $15,395. 

According to U.S. News, pricing is average for the subcompact segment, assuming the driver is comfortable with a 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic CVT adds another $1,100 to the base price, making the entry-level model less of a bargain.

The middle-of-the-road SEL trim has an MSRP of $17,750. The top-of-the-line Accent Limited has a starting price of $19,500 and offers the best value among the three trim levels.

The top trim’s advanced safety features

According to U.S. News, the Hyundai Accent received a 4 out of 5 stars for overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If for no other reason, the Limited top trim is well worth the extra money to get the included advanced safety feature. It’s the only vehicle in its class to offer this as a standard feature. 

The 2021 Hyundai Accent Limited trim comes with forward collision-avoidance assist and automatic emergency braking (AEB).

A recent press release from Hyundai‘s chief safety officer stated, “We are proud to offer this life-saving technology on the vast majority of new Hyundai vehicles. It speaks to our organizational dedication to vehicle safety and the industry’s ability to work together and advance motor vehicle safety voluntarily.”

The NHTSA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety are committed to making AEB a standard feature on all light-duty automobiles by 2022. This move will help prevent 42,000 crashes by 2025.

Hyundai reported that the advanced safety feature uses a camera to warn drivers of vehicles in front of them, avoiding a possible collision. A light blinks and an alarm sounds to alert drivers to imminent danger. In some cases, the system automatically applies the brakes to try to avoid impact.
