You Can Get an Advanced Safety Feature in the 2021 Hyundai Accent
The 2021 Hyundai Accent is a subcompact car that typically rates in the middle of the pack among competitors in its class. The vehicle offers generous seating space, user-friendly technology, and above-average fuel efficiency. Loaded with standard features, the surprisingly quick 2021 Hyundai Accent has an advanced safety feature that is desirable among sedan owners.
The range-topping 2021 Hyundai Accent Limited
The upcoming 2021 model won’t see any changes because the 2020 version received CVT to replace the 6-speed automatic.
The Limited trim of the Hyundai Accent offers standard features such as automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a hands-free easy-open trunk. The affordable vehicle offers an intuitive infotainment system that’s straightforward and easy to use.
Other impressive features standard in the Limited model are LED taillights, daytime running lights, a powered sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Limited utilizes standard four-wheel disc brakes that provide better stopping power than the rear drum brakes on the base model Accent.
The Hyundai Blue Link, an app with smartphone integration, is also included with a complimentary three-year subscription service. The keyless entry system allows users to operate several vehicle functions remotely, including starting the ignition. The innovative system also sets up maintenance reminders and notifies emergency contacts in case of a collision.
Impressed with the affordability and quality of the Hyundai Accent Limited, Car and Driver said, “Accent will never make you feel — or look — cheap thanks to grown-up styling and a no-fuss interior.”
Pricing structure
The 2021 Accent is the cheapest Hyundai you can buy. There aren’t a lot of high-end features, but that’s to be expected considering its low starting price of $15,395.
According to U.S. News, pricing is average for the subcompact segment, assuming the driver is comfortable with a 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic CVT adds another $1,100 to the base price, making the entry-level model less of a bargain.
The middle-of-the-road SEL trim has an MSRP of $17,750. The top-of-the-line Accent Limited has a starting price of $19,500 and offers the best value among the three trim levels.
And don’t forget to add $975 to these prices for the destination charge.
The top trim’s advanced safety features
According to U.S. News, the Hyundai Accent received a 4 out of 5 stars for overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If for no other reason, the Limited top trim is well worth the extra money to get the included advanced safety feature. It’s the only vehicle in its class to offer this as a standard feature.
The 2021 Hyundai Accent Limited trim comes with forward collision-avoidance assist and automatic emergency braking (AEB).
A recent press release from Hyundai‘s chief safety officer stated, “We are proud to offer this life-saving technology on the vast majority of new Hyundai vehicles. It speaks to our organizational dedication to vehicle safety and the industry’s ability to work together and advance motor vehicle safety voluntarily.”
The NHTSA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety are committed to making AEB a standard feature on all light-duty automobiles by 2022. This move will help prevent 42,000 crashes by 2025.
Hyundai reported that the advanced safety feature uses a camera to warn drivers of vehicles in front of them, avoiding a possible collision. A light blinks and an alarm sounds to alert drivers to imminent danger. In some cases, the system automatically applies the brakes to try to avoid impact.
U.S. News‘ recently published “The Cheapest Cars With Automatic Emergency Braking” includes the 2021 Hyundai Accent. The list notes that what was once considered a high-end safety feature is now becoming standard, especially on newer vehicles.
