You Can’t Ignore Land Rover if You Want 3-Row Luxury
SUVs are today’s largest vehicle segment and there’s no sign of it slowing down any time soon. More and more brands are expanding lineups to give consumers what they want: functional and roomy SUVs. This extends to luxury brands as well, which offer much more to the buyer than space. And if you’re looking for a three-row luxury SUV, one brand has plenty of impressive options to choose from.
CarFax experts recently released its list of the 13 best and highest-rated three-row luxury SUVs and there are more vehicles from Land Rover represented on the list than from any other brand. It appears if you’re looking for the best luxury three-row SUV, a Land Rover is a safe bet.
The 2020 Land Rover Discovery has really impressed critics
The Land Rover Discovery costs around $57,000 with all the available key features included but has a starting price of around $52,000.
The Discovery represents what Land Rover is most known for, off-road capability, with a class-leading towing capacity of up to 8,200 lbs (with all-wheel drive) and an impressively powerful engine that is quick and capable, making up to 340 hp. Four-wheel-drive comes standard, while additional off-roading equipment is also available.
Capability does come at a cost, however, as the Discovery offers a disapointing, EPA-estimated 18 MPG combined. But the 2020 Land Rover Discovery does come with a competitively spacious third-row, as well as a class-leading cargo capacity of 83.7 cubic feet.
According to U.S. News, the 2020 Land Rover Discovery offers “first-rate cabin materials,” a 10-inch touchscreen display, and a 10-speaker audio system.
The 2020 Land Rover Defender is a bit more affordable
The 2020 Land Rover Defender comes with a lower starting price than the Discovery of around $49,000, but for all key features included in CarFax’s rankings, the price raises to around $64,000.
The Defender also comes with a slightly lower towing capacity than the Discovery, but still ample for the segment at around 7,700 lbs. Its available engines offer more potency, however, making up to 395 hp. CarFax experts say that the Defender “harkens back to Land Rover’s origins as a utilitarian, off-road focused vehicle.”
Designed simply and functionally, the 2020 Land Rover Defender is meant to be driven off the beaten path, with plush, comforting seating and super-poised handling to match. While its interior touches are slightly less luxurious than the Discovery’s, the Defender comes with the same long list of standard features and roomy cargo capacity.
2020 Range Rover Sport
Rounding out CarFax’s list is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, which offers less interior and cargo space than its siblings, at a higher price. For models that include all the necessary features, prices can reach upwards of $73,000. But the Range Rover Sport accomplishes everything people love the Range Rover.
According to U.S. News experts, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport’s cabin is “full of premium materials and soft-touch surfaces,” such as standard leather seating, as well as plush, comfortable seating and a super-serene ride. It also features impressive engine choices, which start at the standard 254-hp, but can extend to an available, super-powerful, 575-hp engine.
