It is hard to believe that this year is almost over and the winter months are finally here. While the colder months bring many joyous activities, like building a snowman and drinking hot chocolate, this time of year can also bring up feelings of dread for many people who are required to regularly drive in some of the harshest conditions of the year. Luckily, if you are planning on cruising down the snow-covered highways this year, there are a wide range of vehicles available that can help you do it safely. One SUV that is great for driving in the winter, and sometimes gets overlooked is the Honda CR-V. This stunning SUV comes with a wide range of standard and available features that will help to ensure you are able to safely and efficiently get to your destination this winter.

The Honda CR-V comes with a powerful engine

Recently, U.S. News listed the Honda CR-V as one of the top 10 cars to drive in the winter, and after looking at the CR-V’s powertrain, it is not hard to see why. The 2021 CR-V comes equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that is paired with a continuously variable transmission and delivers up to 190 hp.

It comes standard with a two-wheel drive system, however, an all-wheel-drive system is available. The CR-V’s innovative real-time AWD uses a series of intelligent sensors that are able to detect rough terrain and automatically supply the right amount of power to all four wheels of the vehicle. This will help to ensure that the vehicle is able to get out of almost any slippery situation.

A comfortable interior specifically designed for the winter

The Honda CR-V comes with a spacious interior that provides plenty of legroom for both front and back seat passengers. There is also a spacious cargo area in the rear. However, if you do need to haul larger items, the rear seats fold down in a 60/40 split, creating enough room for your winter gear and your passengers.

The vehicle also offers a large 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display that comes with available Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration that allows you to easily listen to your favorite music and get turn-by-turn directions without having to take your hands off of the steering wheel.

In order to ensure that you are able to stay warm all winter long, the EX, EX-L, and Touring trims come standard with heated front seats. Also, all trim levels come standard with an automatic climate control system to keep the entire cabin warm and comfortable.

What safety features come standard in the Honda CR-V?

There is a wide range of standard safety and driver-assist features that come on the Honda CR-V to help give you an added peace of mind while you are traveling down the cold winter roads. Safety features like Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Distribution, LED Daytime Running Lights, and Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control come standard on all trim levels.

The 2021 Honda CR-V also comes standard with Honda Sensing, which uses the latest technology to offer a wide range of driver-assist features such as a Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and a Road Departure Mitigation system. Driving down cold and wet roads can cause drivers to become extremely stressed out very quickly.

To help drivers from feeling overwhelmed while driving in the winter, all trim levels come with additional driver-assist features including Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

While there is certainly a wide range of vehicles available that are great for driving in the winter, with all of the advanced features that come with the 2021 Honda CR-V, this is one SUV that you won’t want to overlook this season.
