Honda is well-known for many things, but it’s not very well-known for making pickup trucks. That said, Honda did go and make a pickup truck that it hopes will win over Americans. The Honda Ridgeline is by no means a perfect truck, but that being said, it’s actually one of the more comfortable trucks on the market right now.

The 2020 Honda Ridgeline is one of the most comfortable trucks

Coming in at fourth place on U.S. News‘ list of most comfortable trucks, the Ridgeline handedly beat some of the more popular pickup trucks in America in terms of their comfort levels. While the Jeep Gladiator, the Ford F-150, and the Ram 1500 ultimately came ahead of the Ridgeline, Honda’s pickup truck notably beat the Chevy Silverado and the GMC Sierra in terms of how comfortable it was. 

To be fair to the trucks though, they were pretty neck and neck in terms of their comfort scores. U.S. News gave the fifth place finisher, the Sierra, an interior score of 7.9 out of 10. The Ridgeline, on the other hand, got an interior score of 8.1 out of 10. The Gladiator wasn’t that far ahead of the Ridgeline either, as U.S. News gave it an interior score of 8.5 out of 10.

Outside of comfort levels, U.S. News also gave the Ridgeline an overall score of 8.3 out of 10, and this made it the best compact pickup truck on the market. There are many reasons for why the Ridgeline scored so well in so many categories, and of course, it mostly boiled down to design. 

Why the 2020 Honda Ridgeline is so comfortable

Unlike most trucks, the Ridgeline has a unibody design. Most sedans have a unibody design, while most trucks have a body-on-frame design. There are pros and cons to each design type, however, the Ridgeline’s unibody design helps give it a far more comfortable ride quality when compared to its competitors, according to U.S. News.

Like U.S. News wrote, “When it comes to ride quality, few compact trucks can match the Ridgeline.” Largely due to the Ridgeline’s unibody design, it, by and large, drives and feels like a sedan rather than a truck. While some truck lovers may hate that about the Ridgeline, customers who really want a comfortable ride will probably love this aspect about the Ridgeline.

That being said, while the Ridgeline’s unibody design makes it a very comfortable truck off the bat, it also has other features that help make it even more comfortable.

Other great interior features in the 2020 Honda Ridgeline

Simply said, when compared to its peers, U.S. News wrote that the Ridgeline’s interior was “arguably the most upscale and inviting in the class.” Not only are its seats comfortable, but the Ridgeline also offers more than enough head and legroom for passengers and drivers of all sizes. In fact, U.S. News wrote that the Ridgeline’s rear seats were, “the roomiest in the class.” 

And then there are the massive amounts of standard interior features that Honda has put on the Ridgeline. Not only does it come standard with an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system, but it also has tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, according to U.S. News. 

Not to mention, Honda is still Honda, and the Ridgeline is packed with safety features. Some of the many standard smart safety features on the Ridgeline include: forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. On top of all that, while the truck bed isn’t the interior, U.S. News said that the Ridgeline’s truck bed was “the most versatile of any truck on the market.”
