While buying a new vehicle may be the dream, sometimes it just makes better financial sense to buy used. With that being said, this doesn’t mean you have to settle for a vehicle that’s falling apart. If you’re interested in a Jeep and can’t afford to buy one brand new, then the 2015 Renegade is a great choice.

The 2015 Jeep Renegade has some great features

The Jeep Renegade is often considered to be the most radical Jeep to be produced in 75 years. It doesn’t exactly fit the Jeep mold, after all.

Yes, it has a boxy shape. And yet some of the lines are just a little too curved. The hood is significantly shorter, and the Renegade just looks small compared to other Jeep vehicles.

U.S. News ranked it as No. 2 on its list of affordable used Jeeps. Eleven vehicles made the list, but the Jeep Renegade managed to beat most of the competition out.  It received a score of 7.9/10, which isn’t bad. The reliability score is 2.5 out of 5, which is definitely not good, but it could be a lot worse. 

U.S. News reports, “The Jeep Renegade was introduced for the 2015 model year, bringing rugged styling and versatility to a subcompact SUV platform. The two four-cylinder engine options are unrefined, but they do route power to a capable off-road-ready drivetrain. When not hitting the back trails, the Renegade has refined ride and handling abilities.”

If you want lots of up-to-date technology, then the 2015 Jeep Renegade definitely doesn’t have that. It does come with Uconnect, which is easy enough to use, but that’s all. It’s important to remember this vehicle is five years old and won’t have the latest and greatest.

According to Consumer Reports, the price for a used 2015 Jeep Renegade is between $10,825 and $14,925. That might be out of the price range for some consumers, but given the fact that Jeeps tend to hold their value, that’s not a terrible thing.

There are a few Jeep Renegade problems that shouldn’t be ignored

No vehicle is perfect, and the Jeep Renegade is no different. The 2015 model was plagued by electrical problems that left many owners more than a little frustrated. 

The major problem that plagues the 2015 Jeep Renegade is it won’t start on occasion. Jeep dealerships insist that there is no issue, and yet many Jeep Renegade owners are reporting it. Attempts to replace the battery have not solved the problem

Another electrical issue that occasionally affects the Jeep Renegade is hard to explain as well. The lights will brighten and dim by themselves. While this is typically associated with hauntings, there is no evidence that the Jeep Renegade is possessed.

Which Jeep model came in first?

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee took the No. 1 position. It’s part of the same generation as the current Jeep Cherokee, so you get essentially the same vehicle, only with a few more miles and less money. 

It comes equipped with either a 290-hp V6 or a 360-hp Hemi V8. If you’re looking for extra power, make sure you buy a model with the V8 engine.

The tech is obviously not up to date, but there are kits that will help fix that. The fuel economy isn’t that great either, so if you need something that is fuel-efficient, then you might want to check out another model year or go with a completely different used vehicle. There are a lot of vehicles on the used market, so if you’re looking for something used, you can definitely take your pick of the litter.
