Supervillain? Check. Bond girl? Check. A high-tech car that leaves viewers rewriting their wishlists? Check. James Bond is returning to the big screen in Bond 25, set to release April 8, 2020. And it wouldn’t be a Bond film without a new muscle car to outrace the goons.

Always one for having the newest technology, Agent 007 will drive his first all-new electric car, the Rapide E. Not only is James Bond a real gentleman, but he’s also focused on protecting the environment.

‘Bond 25’: What we know

The really juicy details are still under wraps, but a few interesting details have been teased out of those in the know. Daniel Craig is gearing up to play 007 once again. It may be his final performance as the legendary super spy, but we can always hope this is only the rumor mill.

This time, the secret agent has left active duty. That’s right. Agent 007 has officially retired and is living the dream in Jamaica. But CIA agent Felix Leiter needs help saving a scientist and no one can pull off a rescue quite like James Bond.

Played by Rami Malek, the new supervillain allegedly has crazy technology that will put Bond through his paces and make his Rapide E crucial to stay ahead of the chaos.

Aston Martin in the Bond franchise

Aston Martin has a lengthy history of providing Bond with sweet rides. Here are just a few he’s driven throughout the years:

The Aston Martin DB5 appeared in 1964’s iconic Goldfinger. It may be one of his most memorable cars, but considering the stunning vehicles Bond has driven over the years, this is subject to debate. Later, in 1969, the agent drove an Aston Martin DBS in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.”

Next came the Aston Martin Vanquish. Not only did Die Another Day exhibit this car in 2002, but it also appeared in two Bond video games: “Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2” and “James Bond 007: Nightfire.”

Aston Martin DBS V12 was featured in not one but two Bond movies. It roared onto the screen in Casino Royal in 2006. Then, it returned to the big screen in 2008’s Quantum of Solace. Finally, in 2015, the Aston Martin DB10 appeared in Spectre.

Aston Martin Rapide E

Now that we’ve established that James Bond loves some Aston Martin, it’s no surprise he’s driving a Rapide E in Bond 25. And there’s a lot to be loved about it.

Let’s start with its charging capabilities. After all, what’s the point of having an electric supercar if it can’t hold a charge? The Rapide E has a charging capability rate of 185 miles of range per hour using a typical 400V 50kW charger. It comes with an 800V high-voltage battery system that charges 310 miles of range per hour (when using an 800V outlet delivery 100kW or higher).

Twin mounted motors on the rear of the car are capable of producing 612PS and 950Nm of torque.

The Rapide E has a top speed of 155 miles per hour. In a world where the fastest tractor goes 103 miles per hour, that’s not incredibly impressive. On a better note, the Rapide E can go from 0 to 60 in 4.0 seconds and can hit speeds of 50-70 miles per hour in a mere 1.5 seconds.

While many cars can outrace the Rapide E, very few look as good doing it, especially when you have Bond behind the wheel.
