You Won’t Regret Buying This Subaru If You Want a Practical Sports Car
Historically, sports cars like some Subaru models were always something to be kept in the garage until the weekend, when you had time to really take it out for a spin and stretch its legs down some wide open roads. Nowadays, however, people don’t want to keep their favorite cars shut away in garages; they want to show them off! As a result, auto manufacturers have responded by making sports cars more and more practical as everyday drivers.
U.S. News recently released a list of their picks for practical sports cars that you can use as your everyday vehicle. Included in their list was the 2020 Subaru BRZ, a Subaru fan favorite.
List of practical sports cars includes the Subaru BRZ
Fans of sports cars have long been waiting for the day when it would make sense for them to be able to use their sports car as their everyday driver. That day is finally here. In 2020, there are more practical sports cars available than ever before and consumers are loving all the options. To help consumers decide on their next purchase is U.S. News’ list of ’12 Sports Cars That Are Easy to Live With in 2020.’
While the list isn’t ranked, per se, U.S. News does list ratings for each sports car on their list. Their top-rated car is the 2020 Ford Mustang with a score of 8.8/10 thanks to its precise handling, comfortable interior, and powerful engine. Tied for first place is also the 2020 Genesis G70 with the same rating; it has more luxury features than the Mustang, but less power.
Also included in the list is the 2020 Subaru BRZ with a slightly lower rating of 7.6/10. The lower rating is attributed to the opinion that the BRZ can feel stiff and uncomfortable when driving on rough roads, but it still has plenty of great features that make up for that.
Features of the 2020 Subaru BRZ
The Subaru BRZ began production in 2013 alongside the Toyota 86 and was a joint effort between Subaru and Toyota. Still in its first generation, the 2020 Subaru BRZ has plenty of features to make it a practical sports car that you can use every day. The 2020 Subaru BRZ is powered by a 205-horsepower four-cylinder engine, which offers less power than some of its more highly-rated competitors on the U.S. News list.
But the 2020 BRZ is packed full of tech features. A 7-inch infotainment control panel comes standard, including navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio, as well as an eight-speaker audio system. But in the safety department, it feels true to a sports car and less like an everyday driver. Standard safety features include the basics like brake assist and vehicle stability control, but it’s lacking the advanced safety features that some of its competitors offer.
A practical sports car you can use every day
One of the most important factors in deciding if your sports car will sit in the garage during the week or if you’ll use it to get to work each day is its fuel economy. The 2020 Subaru BRZ gets an average of 24/33 mpg city/highway, which is pretty good for a sports car. We’d say that alone makes it a practical everyday vehicle.
Additionally, the interior is comfortable enough to make long trips more than OK with its heated leather-trimmed seats and ample trunk space. The 2020 Subaru BRZ doesn’t disappoint in either the sports car category or the everyday car category. Practical sports cars are becoming more and more common, and we’re here for it.
