If you’re a lover of high-speed cars that could run laps on the track against other vehicles, then the Lexus RC F is the one for you. Its sporty looks and top-of-the-line performance is a dream we all wish would come true. 

Unlike the Lamborghini, McLaren, or one of the many speedy Porsches out there, this little gem is more on the affordable side. At least the base version is, the Track Edition is about $30,000 more. Let’s look at what draws people to the RC F, which celebrities were spotted racing around in this car, and whether or not it will be a big seller. 

The appeal of the Lexus RC F 

Powering it up is a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 motor that produces a whopping 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. Mated to it is an eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination enables the car to go from 0 to 60 in a mere 4.2 seconds. 

While the base version will have plenty to go around, the Track Edition is limited to about 50 cars. That fact alone will make it more appealing to a select few people that have the extra money to pay out for this special edition vehicle.  

Like many other high-performance sports cars, the interior of the Lexus RC F  is luxurious. Ultra-comfortable seating, stitched leather seats, and high-quality fit and finish top off the list of luscious features. 

Who burnt some rubber with the Lexus RC F on 0-60?

The 0-60 show, seen on DPCcars YouTube channel, pits a couple of celebrities to face-off racing challenges. This particular episode in the series stars Alfonso Ribeiro, best known for his role on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in the early 1990s, and Nicole Lyons, who comes from a racing background. 

There were three challenges set up for both celebrities, and each one got to drive the Lexus RC F Track Edition. First up was the Slalom route. Both challengers had to drive through a Slalom course as fast as possible, hitting none of the cones on the route. Alfonso pulled out a win because Nicole lost a point for hitting a cone on her try. 

The next challenge was the 0-60-0. Each person had to take off from the starting line, get up to 60 mph, and then hit the brakes. Deciding when to begin braking was the challenge because they had to come to a complete stop in the course’s boxed-out area. Alfonso took this challenge because he had the top speed, which was one mph faster than Nicole. 

The third challenge was to take a lap. Both contestants would zip around the track once, at high-speed, and the one with the fastest time would win. Alfonso took it once again by a mere eight-seconds, though. 

Will the celebrity performances attract more buyers?

While both drivers had a ton of fun putting the Lexus RC F in its paces, it’s not likely to start a stampede to the dealer to buy one of their own anytime soon.

Alfonso and his comedic style made it look like a blast to drive, though. Plus, Nicole’s experience on the track will probably make many people itching to try a lap or two for themselves. Borrowing one for a day would be a dream, but dropping around $96,000, for the Track Edition, is too steep a price at this time. 

However, if the performance has you on edge, the cheaper base version will offer more than you’ll ever need and for only a price tag of $64,900.

The Lexus RC F packs thrills and chills in a high-performance car. While the debates still rages on whether or not this car is worth it, you can’t deny that it’s one pretty neat car.
