It’s finally here; the first seventh-generation Mustang option with a Shelby badge. Now, unless you’ve been living under a rock or on another planet, you know how hallowed the word “SHELBY” is scrawled across the trunk of a Ford Mustang. As such, fans were, at first, left in anticipation of a Shelby Mustang on the seventh-gen “S650” platform. However, now that the S650 GT-based Super Snake Mustang is here, Shelby American released the news of just how rare the build will be.

Limited to just 250 builds for American customers, Shelby American is making sure that the S650 Shelby Super Snake Mustang is one rare serpent

The 2024 Ford Mustang arrived with bragging rights. For starters, the new ‘Stang marked the beginning of the latest Mustang generation while its closest rivals announced their retirement parties. Additionally, the new Dark Horse managed to summon 500 horsepower from a factory naturally aspirated Coyote V8, an engine nearly old enough for its own driver’s license. However, the first model year for the seventh-gen Mustang arrived without the coveted Shelby badge.

That is, until Shelby American announced the savagely powerful 2024 Shelby Super Snake. The new custom Ford Mustang GT-based build is a welcomed sight for Mustang fans. Well, until the return of the Shelby GT500 or GT350. However, the latest Super Snake Mustang option won’t be a common sight; Shelby American will limit the package to just 250 American customers.

“With only 250 available in the US, it will be ultra-rare,” said Shelby American President Gary Patterson. Of course, it’s more than a set of Shelby badges. It features the company’s suspension, customized interior, model-specific tires, feather-weight magnesium wheels, and special exterior treatments, including a duck-tail spoiler. However, every Shelby fan’s mind will be fixated on one thing above all else: the supercharged Gen IV Coyote V8 under the hood.

Sure, the Dark Horse’s 500 horsepower output is commendable. But Shelby American says the upcoming Super Snake Mustang will produce over 830 horsepower from its Whipple supercharged Coyote engine. And of course, the supercharger won’t be some paltry unit. No, this is a 3.0L supercharger. That’s more volume than the engine in the Ford Mustang EcoBoost. Shelby American has yet to announce pricing for the Super Snake.
