2020 Ford F-150 recall due to catching fire 

A total of 430 2020 Ford F-150 pickup trucks are being recalled due to a fire hazard. The issue was caused during manufacturing when the nut that fastens the positive battery cable to the starter motor may have been improperly attached.

As a result, it may not provide a secure connection to the starter for proper conductive properties. This could cause an increase of heat during the starting cycle and an electrical arc, leading to a fire starting.

But do not panic! The fire is gradual upon starting the vehicle and there have been no reports of any injuries related to this faulty battery cable attachment. Also, the issue is very quick and easy to fix. 

What to do if your 2020 Ford F-150 is at risk 

Ford will begin notifying owners of this issue soon, but they didn’t announce exactly when. To see if your 2020 Ford F-150 is at risk you can call Ford at 866-436-7332.

You can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236. If you don’t want to call, you can visit the NHTSA website here to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). 

If your 2020 Ford F-150 is at risk, you can visit a local Ford dealership. A technician will replace the B-positive motor power supply nut for free. However, you will want to schedule a maintenance appointment first. 

You do not have to return to the dealership where you purchased your truck to have this issue repaired. You can find a local dealer to schedule your repair here! Then enjoy starting your truck without the risk of flames. 

Other 2020 Ford F-150 recalls 

The 2020 Ford F-150 has had a concerning amount recalls already. The fire hazard may not be the only issue that your truck is at risk for. It may be best to enter your VIN to see if your truck is affected by any other issues.

In 2019, certain 2020 Ford F-150 trucks with 17” tires were recalled because the spare tire may have been damaged while being added to the rim. The damage could cause the tire to rapidly lose air or detach from the wheel. 

Also, in 2019, Ford issued a recall for 2020 F-150 models due to the fastener on the power distribution box being improperly secured. As a result the vehicle’s instrument display panel, braking, and steering assist may be affected. It may become difficult to brake or steer, the engine may stall, and the risk of fire is increased.

Earlier in 2020, Ford issued a recall for certain 2020 F-150 trucks equipped with the high series LED headlamps with the automatic on and off functionality because they failed to properly work. The daytime running lamps were prone to remaining bright instead of dimming at night. As a result, they were blinding other drivers, reducing their visibility.
