If you’re waiting on your new Ford Bronco to arrive, you aren’t alone. There are hundreds, possibly thousands of 2021 Ford Bronco models piling up outside the Michigan Assembly Plant. At least your Bronco is surrounded by friends while it waits. 

Hundreds of 2021 Ford Bronco models are stuck in limbo 

Soon you might be able to see hundreds, perhaps thousands of 2021 Ford Bronco models piling up in a storage parking lot from space. Outside of the Wayne, Michigan Assembly Plant, the broncos are really starting to collect. 

The administrator of Bronco6G forums posted a video shared by Mike Web, showing an endless amount of Broncos just sitting there. But why are they stuck in this parking lot? When will they finally be shipped out? 

Why are Ford Bronco models delayed? 

The first thing that comes to mind with the 2021 Ford Bronco delay is the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Factories were shut down for a time to protect workers and their families from getting sick. 

The pandemic also resulted in a supply chain shortage for numerous parts. For example, thousands of Ford Super Duty trucks are currently stored near the Louisville, Kentucky plant as they wait for more semiconductor chips. 

Ford noted that the ongoing global computer chip shortage is a key factor in vehicle delays. Ford explained that the global semiconductor chip shortage continues to represent challenges in a number of industries, including automakers worldwide. 

They will continue prioritizing key vehicle lines for production by making the most of their available semiconductor allocations. They will continue finding unique solutions worldwide to provide as many high-demand vehicles as possible to customers and dealers. 

Ford will hold these vehicles for several weeks, then ship the vehicles to dealerships once the modules are available and comprehensive quality checks are performed. Basically, the chips are going to the most popular options. Recently several chips went to the Ford F-150 instead of the Ford Bronco. 

Trucks and other vehicles are being built without the semiconductor chips, and then they are stored. The chips will be added later once they become available, then the vehicles undergo quality testing to ensure they live up to expectations. 

There are Bronco hardtop problems 

Due to supply chain issues, the 2021 Ford Bronco with the molded-in color hardtop has been delayed until 2022. Ford is having difficulties securing the hardtops and has a high-then-expected demand for Wildtrak and Badlands trims, Sasquatch Package, Tow Package, and 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. 

Quality issues could also be a problem. Some Ford Bronco owners are experiencing issues with their hardtops. They are falling apart, getting scratched, and some are even squeaking. But is that enough for Ford to sit on thousands of deliveries? 

There are millions in revenue just sitting there. Ford probably wants to get these Broncos moving. But Ford sent an email out to reservation holders stating that they can’t provide an exact delivery date for the time being.
