Rolls-Royce is a name that invokes prestige and performance. The lineage of the automaker reaches back to movers, shakers, and celebrities of days past. But, it is also a brand loved by celebrities today too! Tyler Hoover is a YouTube celebrity that owns one, and now, he’s getting rid of it at a no reserve auction. It could be a steal. 

YouTube Celebrity: Tyler Hoover

Tyler Hoover has been doing the Youtube content creation thing for several years now. In his channel, Hoovie’s Garage, he’s developed the persona of a car enthusiast with an obsessive car disorder. He constantly buys cars for his hooptie-fleet and finds himself sinking a lot of money in repairs. He introduces his channel as the dumbest automotive channel in all of Youtube.

Mr. Hoover’s big breakthrough came when Jeremy Clarkson called Tyler out during the launch of The Grand Tour series on Amazon Prime. Mr. Hoover and some friends had gone to the taping of an episode and caught the attention of Clarkson. The exchange brought some social media awareness to Mr. Hoover’s endeavors at the time, including Youtube. 

Hoover was on cable television too

Mr. Hoover has also been able to branch out to add cable television to his Youtube empire. He was picked up for a show called Car Issues. The show covered his vehicle purchases and regrets. However, the show has not been picked up for a second season yet. So, he instead has collaborated with other automotive YouTube celebrities, Ed Bolian, and Freddy “Tavarish” Hernandez in a YouTube only show called Car Trek. 

The Rolls-Royce Phantom 

This Rolls-Royce Phantom is one of 796 units made in 2005. It was the first Rolls-Royce product launched after BMW bought the company. It has a 6.75-liter V12 with 450 horsepower. It is longer than a Ford Excursion measuring in at 227,2 inches long. The car has made several appearances on his YouTube channel. Mr. Hoover bought the unit in 2018 for $80,000 when it was listed as the cheapest Rolls-Royce in the United States. But, when it was new, Phantoms had a base price of $320,000 in 2005. Now, new copies of the premium sedan are starting near half a million dollars. 

The YouTuber put his Rolls-Royce at auction 

Today, Mr. Hoover placed his Rolls-Royce up on the auction site, Cars & Bids. It is listed as a no-reserve sale. The auction ends June 22nd, and currently has a high bid of $62,000. The vehicle seems to be moving along pretty well in the auction as it has 35 people currently that have already bid.

A Rolls-Royce with some celebrity provenance is not unusual. However, this Rolls-Royce has not only been owned by a celebrity but has actually shown up on episodes of Hoovie’s Garage. So, that could mean that the vehicle will command a higher price than expected, or it could be a steal. In either case, Mr. Hoover will be watching the auction, and he will almost certainly mention its sale again on his Youtube channel.
