The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a direct competitor to the latest model Kia Seltos in a few ways. However, the Mitsubishi SUV comes out on top of the Seltos in two ways, while the opposite is true for one other reason. Both SUVs offer much to the market, but the Mitsubishi happens to do so in more categories.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross feels more powerful

One thing the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has over the latest model Kia Seltos is its performance. The Eclipse Cross comes standard with a 152 hp turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four engine, according to Edmunds. It uses a continuously variable transmission and is all-wheel drive. It has a torque of 184 lb-ft.

For comparison, the 2023 Kia Seltos has a 146 hp 2.0-liter inline-four engine. This compact SUV also has a CVT and is all-wheel drive. Its torque is 132 lb-ft. Not only is the Eclipse Cross more powerful, but it feels even more so due to having a decently significantly larger amount of torque. This provides a much more sturdy ride, and the Mitsubishi SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 9.8 seconds. However, the Kia Seltos is slightly faster.

The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross interior is arguably better

The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross interior is similar to that of the Kia Seltos. However, many would say that the inside of the Eclipse Cross looks better than the Kia. Despite some cheap materials being present, the automaker did a great job of giving it an upscale look. The Seltos may have more space, but it’s easier to feel at home in the Mitsubishi SUV.

Regarding interior technology, the Kia Seltos has a slight leg up. Its touchscreen display options are bigger. However, again, Mitsubishi’s execution of the interior technology is arguably more eye-catching and modern. Both SUVs offer decent car sound systems, but the Kia option offers an upgraded Bose system.

The 2023 Kia Seltos offers better fuel economy

The 2023 Kia Seltos has better fuel economy than the latest model Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. The Seltos delivers up to 29 miles per gallon in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The Eclipse Cross gets up to 25 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway. There isn’t a drastic difference in these numbers, but the Kia Seltos MPG on the highway is pretty impressive.

Both the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the Kia Seltos are excellent vehicles for their respective prices. However, the Eclipse Cross is a more well-rounded vehicle. It delivers better performance and is more modern than the Kia in some significant ways. They are also similarly priced, with the Cross starting at $25,795 and the Seltos costing $23,340.
