The 2021 Acura ILX is the last sedan of its kind. After the 2022 model year, Acura has decided to discontinue the ILX and focus instead on the Integra. That means that anyone looking to buy a late-model ILX should consider purchasing a 2021 model while they still can. But should you splurge on the Technology package? Let’s take a look at what you get with the optional Technology package and whether it’s worth investing in

What you get with the technology package

The Technology package is only available if you have the Premium package, which adds features like blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and leather-trimmed seats. While these packages are certainly not cheap, they do come with some nice amenities. According to Sunnyside Acura, “The technology package builds on the premium package to give you some extra technology features. The extra features you get include a 10-speaker premium audio system, the AcuraLink telematics system, and a navigation system.”

Is the technology package worth the price?

Of course, whether you think these upgrades are worth, it is entirely up to you and your preferences. The experts at Car and Driver think it’s worth the price, stating, “We think that value is optimized with the optional Premium and Technology packages.” If those features would make your driving experience better or safer, then they might be worth the extra cash.

An overview of the 2021 Acura ILX

The 2021 Acura ILX is an excellent option for those looking for luxury in a small car package—though it does sit closer to the bottom of U.S News’ luxury small car rankings than higher up on them. The overall rating from Car and Driver was only 6/10 but with good fuel efficiency (24 mpg city/33 mpg highway) and plenty of standard features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto integration, and a forward collision mitigation braking system.

A downfall to the 2021 Acura ILX is its standard infotainment system. This may be one of the reasons why U.S News and Car and Driver ranked it on the lower side. The infotainment system features a small five-inch display that is controlled by traditional buttons and knobs. The good news is that if your model comes with the Technology Package, you will have access to a slightly larger eight-inch display. It’s a dual-screen, and one of those displays is a touchscreen.

Should I consider a 2021 Acura ILX with the technology package?

Overall, if you’re in the market for a late-model luxury small car, then you should take a look at what the 2021 Acura ILX has to offer. And if you want the most advanced features, you’ll want to look for one with the Technology package. This package could potentially add value or increase your safety while out on the road—just make sure that you weigh your options carefully before you decide. All things considered, though, there is quite a lot to love about this Acura model.
