The 2023 Lexus RX 350 is considered a less exciting mid-size luxury SUV than the latest BMW X5. Both vehicles have plenty to offer the auto market, but the BMW SUV is superior in a few key areas. However, the most important reason is that the new BMW X5 is the more powerful of the two. There may not be a dramatic difference between the two, but it’s enough to notice when you’re behind the wheel. 

The BMW X5 is a faster mid-size luxury SUV than the new Lexus RX

The 2023 BMW X5 has much to offer anyone who drives it. For one, the SUV comes with a wide variety of engine options. According to Edmunds, the base model has a 335 hp 3.0-liter inline six mild hybrid setup. This one is rear-wheel drive and has an eight-speed shiftable automatic transmission. 

The 2023 Lexus RX 350 is also a popular SUV. Its standard engine is a 2.4-liter turbocharged V8 with a maximum output of 275 horsepower. It’s front-wheel drive and uses the same overall transmission type as the 2023 BMW X5. Unlike the BMW SUV, all the new Lexus RX 350 models have a 2.4-liter engine. 

Regarding speed, the X5 comes out on top easily. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in an impressive 5.4 seconds with its fastest trim. The slowest only takes 7.5 seconds. However, the latest Lexus takes 7.5 seconds to do so, but the available all-wheel drive version only takes 7.2 seconds. 

It should be noted that the RX 350 is intended to be the more comfortable ride experience of the two, while the latest X5 is more sporty and has much better handling. In a way, this isn’t a discussion of which has better performance, but rather, who the level of performance is for. 

The BMW X5 interior is more comfortable

Both luxury SUVs have seating for five people. However, the 2023 BMW X5 interior is bigger and more comfortable. This is true for people in the front and the rear of the SUV. It should also be noted that the BMW SUV has an optional third row, but it’s only big enough for kids. This row increases the seating capacity to seven.

The inside of the BMW X5 2023 is also more upscale than the 2023 RX 350. It uses ultra-high-quality materials and has some pretty awesome features. Among them are heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic moonroof. The 2023 BMW X5 interior has dual 12.3-inch displays, with one being the digital gauge cluster.

The BMW SUV is reliable

The new BMW X5 is considered a reliable SUV. It has an 82 out of 100 predicted reliability score from J.D. Power. This rating represents average reliability, meaning people can trust this vehicle just as well as most other new options. It should be pointed out that the 2023 Lexus RX 350 scored just a few points above this BMW SUV in this category. It’s also important to realize that, while important, predicted reliability scores aren’t always accurate.

Both the new Lexus RX 350 and the X5 BMW are well-rounded vehicles. However, the X5 might be a better choice for people who want speed as well as more engine options. In addition, the 2023 BMW X5 is much more fun to drive.
