Why This 2023 Toyota SUV Beats the GMC Yukon
The 2023 Yukon is a long-running full-size SUV that is fairly popular. However, the Toyota Sequoia 2023 is perhaps a much more well-rounded SUV than its rival. Not only are the two SUVs similar in price, but the Sequoia 2023 comes out on top in more ways than one. Here’s why the new Toyota Sequoia beats the GMC Yukon.
The Sequoia 2023 offers similar performance and a hybrid
Part of what makes the Toyota Sequoia 2023 a better SUV than the 2023 Yukon is the engine setup. The new Toyota SUV comes standard with the iFORCE MAX hybrid powertrain. According to Car and Driver, the same setup is optional on the Toyota Tundra. The powerhouse in the Sequoia is a 3.5-liter V6 paired with an electric motor; the maximum output is 437 horsepower.
For the 2023 Yukon, there are three engine options, one of which is a diesel. However, the SUV does not come with a hybrid option. Regarding speed, the Sequoia beats the Yukon. Reportedly, it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 5.5 seconds, whereas it takes the Yukon about 6. Of course, these are both impressive numbers for such large SUVs. Both vehicles use a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Sequoia 2023 has more interior space
Another thing the new Toyota Sequoia has going for itself is the interior. Like the Yukon, it comes with three rows as standard. However, the new Sequoia feels less crowded on the inside, so there’s more space for comfort. Buyers can replace the second-row bench seats with captain’s chairs, which changes seating to seven instead of eight.
Though the Sequoia has less cargo space than some rivals, it still has 12 cubic feet even with the seats in use. On the technology front, the Sequoia 2023 has a 14-inch touchscreen on all trims besides the base model. This is the same infotainment system used in the Toyota Tundra. Luckily, Toyota replaced the Sequoia’s infotainment system from the previous model.
The new Sequoia is a better looking vehicle
The Sequoia 2023 also beats the Yukon in terms of looks. It’s difficult for large SUVs to be considered attractive. However, some effectively pull it off, as the Sequoia has always had a well-received exterior. Compared to the Yukon and other full-size SUVs, the Sequoia has much more personality in its exterior appearance.
For the sake of comparison, the GMC Yukon mostly looks like a truck. It does have an appealing front grille and daunting large tires, but overall, it’s just a truck without a bed. The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is a stylish SUV that manages to combine an aggressive stance with the usual sophisticated Toyota look.
Of course, the Sequoia is a tad bit more expensive than the GMC Yukon. However, the difference is minimal, and it’s an overall better vehicle. Both are great, but the GMC Yukon seems less like a family SUV and more like an option meant for towing and other practical purposes.
