The Quality of the 2024 Subaru Solterra Doesn’t Match Its Price
Subaru has some of the most impressive vehicles on the market. This is especially the case when it comes to models such as the Forester. However, the 2024 Subaru Solterra doesn’t quite match this status. In most ways, this is not one of the best small SUVs. Of course, it’s newer, which means it has to go through growing pains before being great. The 2023 Subaru Solterra has many of the same issues.
Here’s how the cost of the Subaru Solterra doesn’t match its quality.
The 2024 Subaru Solterra isn’t among the best small SUVs for range
People who invest in electric vehicles these days expect them to be impressive when it comes to range. However, the 2024 Subaru Solterra falls a bit short in this regard. According to MotorTrend, its 72.5 kWh battery pack only grants a range of 222 miles on a full charge. Not only is this low by the standards of today, but this is a disappointment coming from an automaker people known for efficient cars.
The 2023 Subaru Solterra was the first model of the compact SUV. However, the automaker didn’t take significant steps to improve it as the two models are fairly equal in range. Perhaps this could be one of the best small SUVs if it delivered better performance. However, the 2024 Subaru Solterra makes 215 horsepower and has a torque of 249 lb-ft. It takes about 6.6 seconds to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour.
The Solterra is not a slow SUV by any means. However, this isn’t the level of performance most would expect from such an expensive SUV. Buyers should note that charging for the 2024 Subaru Solterra should be faster than with the use of DC fast chargers.
The Solterra isn’t reliable
It’s important to point out that J.D. Power has not yet rated the 2024 Subaru Solterra. However, there aren’t significant changes from the previous model. Like many brand new vehicles, the 2023 Subaru Solterra has pretty low ratings. In fact, its only ‘great’ score comes from its dealership experience rating.
The most significant area, quality & reliability, is its lowest score. The 2023 Subaru Solterra has only a 67 out of 100 in this regard, which the marketing research firm considers ‘fair.’ This rating means there are probably quite a few kinks the automaker needs to iron out before it’s a reliable vehicle. However, it’s also important to point out that there aren’t any widespread reports of issues.
The 2024 Subaru Solterra has a starting price of $44,995. Many people could go out and get an EV with better range for a decent bit less. The warranty also isn’t one of the best, as the SUV comes with basic protection for three years or 36,000 miles. It also has a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
