The Toyota GR Supra Has Quite a Bit in Common With the F-Type
The 2024 Toyota GR Supra has more in common with the new Jaguar F-Type than some may think. Of course, the F-Type is the automaker’s more affordable car, so this may not be all that surprising for everyone. Both are among the best sports cars for several reasons, and both vehicles have much to offer their respective buyers. This is the same for the 2023 Toyota GR Supra and the same model F-Type.
Here’s how they compare.
The 2024 Toyota GR Supra and the F-Type among the best sports cars
Make no mistake, the 2024 Jaguar F-Type is the faster and more luxurious of the two cars. However, the new Toyota GR Supra isn’t that far off and makes perfect sense for its price point. Both cars excel thanks to what they have under the hood.
According to Edmunds, the F-Type has a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 under its hood with a maximum output of 444 horsepower. Its torque is 428 lb-ft. However, the most potent version of the 2024 Jaguar F-Type makes 575 horsepower and has a torque of 516 lb-ft. The F-Type has rear and all-wheel drive configurations and uses an eight-speed automatic.
The 2024 Toyota GR Supra comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter that makes 255 horsepower and has a torque of 295 lb-ft. The GR Supra also has a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with a maximum output of 382 horsepower and a torque of 368 lb-ft. It’s a rear-wheel drive car that uses an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. The 2023 Toyota GR Supra offers similar performance.
Speed is where things really even out between the two. The 2024 Jaguar F-Type accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 3.5 seconds with its most powerful trim. It’s faster than the Toyota, but not by much. The 2024 GR Supra is also one of the best sports cars as it only needs 3.9 seconds for the feat with its 3.0-liter engine.
Both cars have solid interiors
The 2024 Jaguar F-Type and the new Toyota GR Supra both have solid interiors. As expected, the Jaguar comes out on top in most regards, but this is still relative to the price. Regarding interior technology, the F-Type has a 10-inch touchscreen that blends in perfectly with the overall look of the car. The new GR Supra has an 8.8-inch unit that’s perched atop the dash.
However, non-luxury buyers will be happy to know that the 2024 Toyota GR Supra has more interior space than the F-Type. It doesn’t beat it by much, but every little bit counts when it comes to comfort. Regarding cargo storage, the GR Supra offers 10.2 cubic feet, while the Jaguar has 7.3 cubic feet of combined cargo space.
The new GR Supra starts at $46,440, and the Jaguar has an MSRP of $79,900. These are two very different cars for very different buyers, but they are also similar.
