While the price of the entry-level 2025 Acura MDX only jumps about $750, people who want the more powerful trim will need to fork over an additional $6,500. The 2024 Acura MDX Type S offers the same performance as the 2025 model
Buyers may wonder why the new Acura MDX Type S is so much more than the 2024 model. Well, performance isn’t the reason, as it offers the exact same specifications. According to Acura, the new model of what many call one of the best luxury SUVs uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. It has a maximum output of 355 horsepower and a torque of 354 lb-ft.
This version of the 2025 MDX has super-handling all-wheel drive and uses a 10-speed automatic transmission. Regarding speed, the 2024 Acura MDX Type S accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 5.5 seconds, so the new model should offer similar speeds.
What makes the new version so much more expensive?
The 2025 version is so much more expensive than the 2024 Acura MDX Type S because it comes standard with a previously optional package. Now, buyers get the Advanced package as part of their more powerful SUV. This package adds features such as 16-way power-adjustable front seats with massaging, a head-up display, heated materials, Milano leather upholstery, and a surround-view camera system. In general, the new Acura MDX has upgraded technology.
