Police squad cars are one of the most exciting topics in the automotive industry. This is despite no one wanting to be pulled over for traffic stops. Of course, the Ford Interceptor is one of the most common, and the automaker has just announced the 2025 model. As with all police cars, it comes with increased power compared to what you’d find in a civilian model.
Meet the 2025 Ford Interceptor, which is one of the newest squad cars
According to Ford, the 2025 Ford Interceptor is being shipped to police agencies nationwide. It comes with a host of upgraded technology to both improve officer safety and increase productivity. Regarding performance, this is one of the best squad cars on the market. It comes standard with a hybrid powertrain, which uses a 3.3-liter V6 that makes 318 horsepower and has a torque of 322 lb-ft.
The second of the three powertrain options for the 2025 Ford Interceptor is a gas-powered engine. It’s a 3.3-liter V6 with a maximum output of 285 horsepower and a torque of 260 lb-ft. The last option is a 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Its maximum output is 400 horsepower, and its torque is 415 lb-ft.
Police officers rely on several pieces of technology both after they have pulled drivers over and when they are in pursuit. Luckily, the 2025 Ford Interceptor has top-of-the-line features in this department. The new model comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a certified speedometer. Its Manual Police Pursuit Mode is also easy to turn on as there is a steering wheel button to activate it.
The 2025 Ford Interceptor also has the following features:
- Standard Police Perimeter Alert system
- Police Engine Idle
- Police Dark Car- helps police keep a low profile during undercover activities
- Ford Pro Vehicle Integration System 2.0
- Advanced Over the Air updates
- Standard Advanced Driver-Assist technology
- Optional Ballistic Panels with level three or four protection
Notably, Ford says the hybrid version of its new squad car could save police departments up to $17,500 in fuel costs over six years of ownership if gas is $3.50 per gallon. For more reading, check out our article on what happens to decommissioned squad cars.
