Nissan Is Dropping 1 of Its Most Powerful Sedans
The Nissan Altima is one of the best midsize sedans for people looking for something spacious and affordable. However, as sedans are dying slowly, the automaker is putting an end to a beloved trim for the Nissan Altima as the 2025 model won’t include it as an option. This comes as rumors emerge that Nissan will be putting the Altima nameplate out to pasture soon.
The 2025 Nissan Altima won’t feature this high- performance trim
According to CarScoops, the new Nissan Altima won’t feature the SR VC Turbo trim. Regarding the outgoing model, the SR VC Turbo version sports a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that makes 248 horsepower with a torque of 273 lb-ft. All other trims of the Altima use a 2.5-liter engine with a maximum output of 188 horsepower.
The Nissan Altima is one of the best midsize sedans because it’s decently quick for the price. However, the SR VC Turbo trim that the 2025 Nissan Altima will lack motivates the outgoing model to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds. It takes the standard powertrain a little under eight seconds for the feat.
It’s unclear why Nissan wants to get rid of this high-performance version ahead of the upcoming Nissan Altima. However, there are also unconfirmed talks that the automaker will discontinue the Altima after the 2026 model year. While it’d be sad to see the Nissan Altima disappear from the market, this makes sense as sales have decreased in recent years.
The official 2025 Nissan Altima should be announced in the coming weeks.
