The Jeep Patriot hasn’t been on the market since 2017. However, some people may be interested in a used Jeep Patriot. Unfortunately, it was never one of the best Jeep SUVs, but some years are worse than others. No vehicle is perfect, but these three Patriot model years are some of the worst from the lineup due to excessive maintenance issues.
The 2015 is one of the worst used Patriot Models
The 2015 Jeep Patriot is among the worst used models of the vehicle. According to Vehicle History, one of the most significant problems associated with the SUV is that the engine has a tendency to stall. Most drivers say the issue comes out of nowhere and isn’t preceded by a check engine light or other indicators. Though this isn’t a highly reported issue, it is concerning as it can be a safety risk while driving.
Another problem with the 2015 Jeep Patriot is that water leaks into the interior. Unfortunately, this is a problem with several Patriot model years. The issue has no known cause, so most assume it’s the result of a design flaw or poor build quality. Though it’s a fairly widespread problem, there are no recalls for water leaking into the vehicle. The 2011 Jeep Patriot is also not well-liked because it delivers weak performance. It has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 158 hp, which isn’t bad for its size. However, the 2011 model feels sluggish compared to the best years of the Jeep SUV. Additionally, the water leaking issue is present in this model. The 2009 is not a good used Jeep Patriot
The 2009 Jeep Patriot is also one of the worst used models of the small SUV. Again, its most concerning issue is related to the transmission. Many drivers have reported that the transmission makes a loud whining noise and then begins to decelerate. Of course, this is a relatively expensive thing to fix if it happens. The 2009 Jeep Patriot also leaks from the roof, which can cause issues such as mold and damage to various interior items. The vehicle has one recall due to the type of adhesive used in the powertrain control module.
Overall, the Patriot isn’t an excellent choice for a used SUV. It’s not Jeep’s most substantial offering, but it has a few model years that stand out as okay at best. However, these three could cause significant headaches due to ongoing maintenance problems.
