Acura Sees Steep Sales Decline in 2024
Acura has some of the best luxury cars, and the prices are often approachable. However, the company seems to be struggling as some of the latest figures show steep declines in some of the best Acura sedans. In particular, the Acura TLX has much lower sales in 2024 than in 2023. However, it’s not all bad news, as the Acura RDX improved in sales for 2024 compared to 2023, and the MDX was close.
The Acura TLX is struggling in sales for 2024 compared to 2023
There’s quite a bit to love about the 2024 Acura TLX, as it’s one of the best luxury cars. However, according to CarScoops, the Acura TLX is down by 76.5% in sales compared to May of 2023. Only 532 people have bought the sedan in May of this year, whereas the number was 2,173 for the same time last year. Regarding this year total, 3,733 people have purchased the TLX, which is down from over 7k.
Unfortunately, the Acura TLX isn’t the only sedan from the automaker with lower sales in 2024. The Integra had a similar fate, though not nearly as dramatic. 13,906 people had purchased the Acura Integra by this time in 2023. However, this figure has fallen to 11,461 units this year.
Readers should note that Acura reached out to the previously mentioned source and stated that the decline isn’t due to lack of interest but rather changes at the plant where these cars are manufactured. Overall, the automaker is down by 11.3 percent for the year. Luckily, May has been an improvement for the automaker compared to previous months.
Not all Acura vehicles are down this year
Regarding Acura sales in 2024, it’s not all bad news, as the SUVs are doing better than sedans. In particular, the Acura RDX is selling 38.2% more in 2024 than it did in 2023. Additionally, the Acura MDX sold more in May of 2024 than it did in 2023. However, its overall sales for the year are 19.9 percent lower than last year.
What Acura has said about the changes at the plant causing lower sales and inventory could be true. However, there might also be more to the story. Though people know the automaker for making some of the best luxury cars, some people have complaints. In particular, many feel its cars are too similar to Honda vehicles but still have higher prices. Still, hopefully, things turn around as the automaker has much to offer luxury car buyers.
