Many of the best new cars on the market today are all-electric. However, there’s still a bit of ground to cover as many US drivers are hesitant about buying an EV. This lack of trust has to do with range anxiety and the perceived inconvenience of charging. Now, there’s a new solar electric charger that could help change that and instill confidence in all-electric cars for people who may not have considered them before. It’s called simply the EV Solar Charger.

Meet the EV solar charger for all-electric cars

According to The Cool Down, people with all-electric cars will soon have another option for an electric charger. Now, Go Sun, which is a leading solar company, has announced the EV Solar Charger. Basically, it’s a solar panel of sorts that can fit on any EV that happens to have a roof rack. The company says that this new device weighs about 70 pounds and has the ability to deliver about 1,200 watts of solar power, which translates to 30 miles per day.

People with all-electric cars can fold up the device and keep it in their vehicles when not in use. However, once they park, they can quickly attach it and use it as an electric charger while they’re going about their day. It also functions as a shade so that the car isn’t as hot due to high temperatures.

This EV Solar Charger is also great for people with all-electric cars because the energy is clean and doesn’t contribute to carbon pollution. Of course, this won’t replace more traditional charging methods. However, it could be an excellent option to keep the battery level up throughout the day and to allow drivers to spend less time at public charging stations.

The total price of the EV Solar Charger is $2,999, and interested buyers can reserve one for $100. The official website says the charger will be delivered sometime in 2025. This could be a solid option for many of the best new cars.
