Watch this auto mechanic explain why he’d never buy cars from 2 automakers
People have many options when it comes to buying the best new or used cars. However, there are some models that drivers should think twice about. Luckily, there are a few well-known auto mechanics online who give car-buying advice to avoid clunkers. Recently, one trusted mechanic shared two automakers he used to love but wouldn’t suggest buying cars from.
Other auto mechanics would probably agree
Auto mechanics have more to offer than just fixing cars. Because they work on so many cars, they often have their fingers on the pulse of the industry. According to Daily Dot, the auto mechanics at Royalty Auto Service (@royaltyautoservice) have quite a following on TikTok and often give advice. Recently, one of the mechanics from there shared which two car companies buyers should steer clear of.
He first said Saturn, which made some of the best new cars while in production. He says that while people can buy them cheaply, repairing them may take more work because parts may be hard to come by. According to him, this is the case because Saturn has been defunct for so long. In fact, tracking down the parts may cost more than they are worth. Auto mechanics agree with this sentiment.
The other automaker he names is Saab, which hasn’t made cars since 2011. Despite making some of the best new cars of its time, he says it was always more of a niche automaker, meaning parts may have even been rare when the cars were in production. Like with Saturn vehicles, you can find a Saab for cheap, but finding auto mechanics to work on it may take a lot of work.
Of course, there are still people who drive cars from both Saturn and Saab. Many of these owners have great experiences. Still, buying cars from automakers that no longer make vehicles can be risky.
