This Nissan went 30,000 miles without an oil change
Going to auto mechanics for oil changes is one of the most important parts of owning a vehicle. After all, oil provides lubrication for your vehicle, and bad oil can cause serious issues. Recently, one mechanic shared what happened when a Nissan owner brought in their car, which was significantly overdue for an oil change. No vehicles, including those from Nissan, should go this long.
This Nissan owner seriously neglected their visits to auto mechanics
The internet is filled with stories that can serve as cautionary tales for drivers. One such story involves a 2021 Nissan Kicks owner. According to Daily Dot, Crutchfield Automotive (@crutchfieldauto) shared on TikTok that they were working on this car that hadn’t had an oil change in over 30,000 miles. Of course, like most auto mechanics would be, the person working on the vehicle was unsure if he could help with its issues. Apparently, the driver had noticed that the car was smoking.
Over the course of a few videos, the auto mechanics show the process and the amount of sludge that has built up in the 2021 Nissan Kicks. Luckily for the Nissan owner, they were able to do the oil change, and the car seemed acceptable in that regard. The mechanic says there are other issues with the vehicle, but the engine showed no signs of being 30,000 overdue for an oil change.
However, this wasn’t your regular oil change that auto mechanics do. Instead, they pressure-washed the engine, and he says they “opened it all the way up.” Of course, this is understandable, as it had gone so long without having fresh oil.
So, how often must you visit your local auto mechanics for an oil change? Some people still live by the 3,000-mile rule. However, it’s commonly accepted that you may not need one until between 5,000 and 7,500 miles. However, you should consult your car manual for specifics about your vehicles from Nissan or any other automakers.
